Hi Guys,
After using GB-PVR and getting my head around how it worked I must say its a very good application. However I came across a slight problem when running a scan on 28.2 (Eurobird1, Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D) as you probably know there are quite a number of channels and when it comes to mapping them to your EPG it can take some time. As the scan brings the channels down in no particular order it can be a time consuming task mapping each channel you want. To make things easier I decided to see how I could get the channels in alphabetical order.
So this is how I went about it
1. Fire up Excel
2. Click File>Open>Browse to C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA (ensure you have all files selected under "Files Of Type") double click SCAN-1.cache file.
3. The text import wizard should now have started choose "Delimited" and click Next. Under Delimiters ensure you untick "Tab".
4. Put a tick in "Other" and enter ">" (without quotes) in the blank box. Click Next to continue and then Finish
5. You should now have two columns one with the frequencies in and the other with the channel names.
6. It might be worth formatting the cells to autofit so you can see things more clearly to do this click the tab to the left of "A" column to highlight the whole sheet. Click Format>Column>AutoFit Selection.
7. You should now have the columns setup nicely, we now need to sort the text into alphabetical order to do this highlight the whole sheet (click the tab next to "A" again, it could still be highlighted too). Click Data>Sort>Select the "No header row" option. Under "Sort by" drop the box to "Column B" and ensure "Ascending" is selected. Click "OK". The text should now be sorted in alphabetical order.
8. Ok now we need to get the information in the right format to put back into the cache file. So highlight "Column B" (click the "B" letter to highlight the lot) Click Insert>Column. Type ">" (without quotes) in the first cell in Column B. On the bottom right hand corner of the cell you should see a little bold arrow click and and drag down to all the cells.
9. Right now select the first cell in Column D type the following formula =CONCATENATE(A1,B1,C1) and press enter. You should now see all the text joined into one. At this point its best to autofit the text again you can does this by double click the divider between the column letters "D" & "E". Drag this formula down to all the cells using the bold arrow again. Right click and "Copy".
10. Click the first cell of Column E and right click "Paste Special" under "Paste" click "Values" and press "OK".
11. Highlight all the text in Column E, right click and "Copy"
12. Open up notepad and click "Paste".
13. Click File>Save As, type SCAN-1.cache (ensure "Save As Type" is set to "All Files"). Then Browse to C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA and save the file.
14. Open up GB-PVR config and check the channel list it should not be in alphabetical order.
Please note you can use this on any number of cache files if yours isnt SCAN-1 just choose the next number.
I hope this helps some people out I apologize if something similar has already been posted.
Good luck
