Hi

I have recently moved to Oz from NZ. In NZ I have been using an HTPC with a PVR 350 card for the past 3 years and I have been very happy with it.

In OZ they have terrestial-based digital TV I think which you buy a set-top box for. Since I watch most of my TV using the hauppauge I would like to replace my PVR 350 with an appropriate card to receive the digital signal.

Can anyone give me some recommendations?

There is quite a few options. An HVR1300 would give you DVB-T plus analog with hardware encoder if you still want to use it from time to time. Otherwise you can look at the HVR900 or Nova-T etc.

OK. I would like one with a dual tuner but more importantly I want to continue to use GBPVR and have a remote. A lot seem to be MCE versions which I take it don't come with a remote.

Any further suggestions to narrow it down?

The Nova-T 500 is dual tuner DVB-T, and comes with a remote.

The only cards I've found are MCE versions. I'm running plain Windows XP. Does this make any difference? i.e. drivers etc.?

As for the remote...I'm not sure what you mean? Is there a specific MCE remote from Windows? And is this supported by GBPVR?

Thanks that's very helpful. I checked out a NovaT-500 card today - $180 OEM version here in OZ. That sounds like pretty good price to me. The MCE remote looks like a good idea since the OEM version has no remote included.

Now I just need to package my setup into a cheap HTPC box!

I have this card, the Nova-T 500 MCE? I have been having issues (and I hope someone here can suggest why) with it running close to 100% signal quality on tuner #2 but on tuner #1 it's lucky to lock onto any signal at all. I'm running XP pro and have been using SageTV trial for now but looking to switch over to GBPVR. Trouble I've had in setting up though is that GBPVR does not detect all of my channels even on tuner 2 that has almost perfect signal strength and quality.

I read somewhere that GBPVR needs to be told to wait for longer to receive a signal on each channel in Australia, does this sound right? I'm lost. I want to switch but need to sort this problem out. (along with the lack of signal quality on tuner 1, BTW, I have returned the first card I had with that problem, now the replacement does the same, I'm wondering if it's either software based or it's my motherboard maybe which is an AOpen MX46-533)

I dont know if this will help, but try going into the capture source settings to the screen where you selected the card type, and hit the Advanced BDA Settings button and enabled the 'ignore PMT CRC errors during scan' option.
