When I try to record a show that will conflict with another show, I don't receive a warning of this conflict. Instead it seems to ignore a new recording request if it will conflict with another recording.

Anyone else experience this issue?

Can you give me the steps to reproduce this? ie what order did you schedule them and from where. manual recording or tv guide etc...

Scenario A:
I had the problem when trying to record a show from the TV Guide. It was conflicting with a recurring recording.

Scenario B:
Setting 2 manual recordings (on different channels) for the same time slot does not work.

Scenario C:
Scheduling a recording from "Search Guide"

Scenario B was a known problem and recently fixed for the next release. I'm not able to reproduce either of the other two. Can you reproduce them and post they logs?

I can confirm the other 2. Whenever I schedule a conflict it just ignores the conflict and schedules it anyway.

If it's of any help, I have 2 tuners; a WinTV USB2 with analogue cable and a Pinnacle HD card with QAM.

I know you've been around this loop before but what about some TiVo like facilities? Their scheduling stuff is pretty good and helps out alot with things like moving recordings around when there's a clash.

I can let you have access to a TiVo via my SlingBox if you'd like to play. It might give yuou some idea's.

Reproduce the conflict problems then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

For the majority of GB-PVR users their guide data does not contain the detailed information that would be required to support things like moving recordings to other airings of the same show when there is a conflict. I dont want to build functionality that would only benefit US/Canada users.

Really? What are they using for guide data then? I'm able to see programms by show name and episode title in the guide. Why can't the scheduler? In fact, when the guide shows me a list of upcoming episodes for me to select there are often more than one of the same episode listed for a given day either on the same channel or some other channel (erm ...57 channels and nothings on?). If the search guide shows me this why can;t it read it for itself?

I get my data from CT Listing btw. Perhaps I should try Schedules Direct on my MythTV machine and see what it does.

The US/Canada is better off than the rest of the work, since it contains info clearly identifying each episode of a show.

Outside of the US most people use xmltv files for their listings. Usually this only contains the show title and a description (sometimes subtitles, actor, genre, rating), but more often than not these fields just contain generic descriptions in all the fields which dont change from episode to episode.

You'll find that US even has these generic descriptions on many shows too - news, current affairs shows etc, but because the US has these other special data elements identifying the individual shows its not the problem it is for the rest of the world.

Aha!

Sucks to live elsewhere then :}

I had left the UK for the US before Digital TV showed up and so missed out on all the lack of facilities.
