Listening to music from the computer

I'd like to be able to play music with winamp so I can control the playlist, change things quickly ect. So basicly I have a splitter that will let me loop what ever sound comes out of the computer back into the hauppauge card.

I know GB-PVR can let you see live tv on the MVP comming from the PVR's cable input on the computer, but can it also show you what's comming into the s-video or composit jack and the audio input? Or maybe there is some other work around?


Actually in the past I have also used a s-video cable to loop the video from my graphic card right into the PRV to record my self gaming. It's kind of funny, but the video quality is terriable.

From the lack of responces I'm guessing there's really no way to change the "channel" on the MPV live tv mode to the s-video and audio inputs?

Well, I'm going to play around a bit with a VCR. I'll input the audio into it's aux inputs and see how the whole thing works out. Maybe there is a way to encode the audio to cable channel 2 and add it into the cable signal kind of like what video games do.

You can add a second capture source that is setup to use the same devices, but configured to use svideo/composite in, then use the 'Add channel' button to create channel called 'music'. It'll be bloody ugly though - black screen while you listen to music, and no control over it from GB-PVR. Yuck!

Sub, thank you so much for taking time to help me. It totaly worked like you said and I love it. It doesn't show a black screen though, it shows my computer desktop because I have the s-video out of my graphics card going into the PRV250 s-video in. Current wallpaper = Sexy pose of kristin kreuk (Lana from smallville) so it's actually rather pleasing.

Sound quality is perfect as far as I can tell. Yes no control from GB-PVR, but that works fine for me. I find MVP menu's far too slugish and all I wish is an easy way choose and move music quickly using winamp (why try to re-invent the wheel?).

Next up is me try to see if I can get video to play as well and without any wierd time delays and black screen video. This way I will have an easy way to play divx movies on the tv when needed.

My only problem now, as my roommate pointed out to me, is that he can see what I'm doing on my computer at anytime my tuneing into channel "music" (typeing emails, trolling forums, pron. ect). LOL I hope I don't embarrass myself.
