Hi all,

Well I finally got my HVR-1600 to pull QAM from my cable company (Cox). I had to do an "all countries" scan which took about 8 hours But I now have all 3 big networks, FOX, several PBS and a few local channels.

My question is which MUX is best to use. I know this is an opinion kind of thing but I'm interested in what is working best for everyone. There was also talk at one time about demux's. I haven't been able to do anything with that as I have no demux's loaded.

If you have your HVR-1600 working really well, I'd love to know your MUX and decorder configuration.

Thanks in advance!

Do you mean BDA Multiplexer? I use Microsoft DVR-MS. For video decoder I use ATI MPEG Video Decoder and audio I use Dscaler audio decoder. This combination seems to give me the best playback with HD and digital but I've never been able to get a good analogue picture. I should mention I have an ati x1650 video card.

i use ati mux...it outputs .mpg files...use MS mux to output dvr-ms files..
the mux just takes audio and video streams and puts them together in a container format...i haven't had a single problem with the ati mux here in US.

De-muxes just take input stream and split the video and audio, needed for playing..

i use a ati x1550 with a really low end system for sweet HD...Smile
i found it's not about memory, cpu, vid card bus nor amnt. vid card mem....they just don't matter...
almost any decently running system with a certain minimum video card will do...[x1550 or NV8500 +]
mostly it's about a good software environment...[winblows and decoders/vid card drivers]

i also use ati avivo decoder as well...Big Grin

oh and if you use a 'gb client' then use a mux that outputs .mpg files as dvrms doesn't work with client mode..
[plus .mpg are easier to burn to dvd and sometimes play/convert]
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
