Sunday's Nascar race recorded just fine although there weren't any shows scheduled back to back with it. Last nights Prison Break was broke into three files right at the end of the show and then two files were created for Terminator with only a few hundred KB of data in each and then it quit recording altogether. Never got any error except I noticed when we tried to watch Terminator while it was recording that nothing would play and in the TV Guide it wasn't marked red like it hadn't been scheduled to record.

This was on 2/18 with Prison Break at 7pm and Terminator at 8pm.

Also, is there a way to keep "Stopping screen saver from kicking in..." from being logged once a minute and filling up the logs?

Do you also have the missing GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log-1/-2 files? I'm assuming these show your prison break recording because the other files dont.

I accidentally left this message in one of the patched pvrx2.exe files I posted. I've made sure its removed for the next release.

There isn't a GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native-1.log or GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native-2.log. Only the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native-3.log

Does this mean the recording service probably hung? That would almost explain the wierd stuff I was seeing. After found I had to use Video Library to finish Prison Break, I realized Terminator wasn't recording (TV Guide showed no red box on that show and no HDD activity) Only the two small files). I exited PVRX2 to see if maybe the recording service had crashed behind the scenes. I didn't see anything so I figured I'd go into config update the EPG on the capture sources and let it restart the recording service.

Does the information in GBPVRRecordingService.exe-2.log give you any info?
At 18:53:00, Prison Break starts recording like it's supposed to (7 min prepad)
then at 19:53:00, it sees Terminator is supposed to record so it stops Prison Break, starts recording Terminator,
then 2 seconds later stops it, starts recording Prison Break again at 19:53:04.
Then around 19:59, it does that again, stops Prison Break, starts Terminator, a couple seconds later, stops Terminator and finishes Prison Break. But never starts recording Terminator again.

Okay, thanks.

I've not seen any situations where these logs dont get produced. I doubt its hung, because you'd still expect a ton of messages prior to that happening. It also wouldnt have restarted itself to make the next of these multiple chunks.

You'd get a recording broken into multiple chunks like this if someone had rebooted the machine, or if the recording service had been restarted. You could check the windows event viewer for that approximate time to see if the machine was rebooted.

This is only guessing without those logs though.

Could this happen if he lost signal on his digital tuner? If it's bad enough, would the recording terminate, and then later the recording service start it up again?

The machine wasn't rebooted while it was recording since I was watching a previously recorded show till my wife got home, then we started watching Prison Break.

I'll see if the windows event logs give me any indication.
