Aftwr a couple months of using GB-PVR, I have a few questions:

1. How do I go from a full screen (non-windowed mode) to a windowed mode at 100% size (which would take up a 1/4 of my 21" monitor)? Can I assign a key on the keyboard to do this or do I need remote?

2. How do I simply press record and immediately record and then press stop? You know, like you used to with a VCR? No schedules, guides, etc. Do I need a remote to do this?

Is there a way I can set it up to record by time and channel only, not by show or TV guide? I guess this would be a more manual way of recording.

You can press Alt-Enter to toggle between fullscreen and window mode.

GB-PVR is pretty much designed to work with TV listing. If you just want a simple TV application viewing tv and recording, and dont want to have to worry about tv listings etc, then you've probably picked the wrong sort of application. You might be better off with an app like the WinTV app that comes with Hauppauge cards.

You can use the 'Manual Rec' button in the Recording Screen to schedule records by channel & time.

1. Sorry, don't know.

2. I use a remote to do this, but I think the keyboard equivalent is ctrl-K to record and (probably) ESC to stop. I think you need to be watching live TV to do this?? See http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...dReference

3. Sure - goto 'recordings' and pick 'manual record' just set the channel and start/end dates/times.

Hey thanks.

Here's another one: how come I can't record something and watch it at the same time? I see something spur of the moment, start recording (say for a preset of 15 min.) and I'm booted to the menu screen. When I click Live TV I'm given the choice of not watching Live TV or watching the show being recorded. When I click on the "watch show currently recording" option, I still get booted to the main menu. Is there some setting I have to enable to watch and record at the same time?

You have two options. Select watch TV from Live TV, choosing the same show that is being recorded or pressing play from the pending file. In the case of watching pending (and possibly in watching live TV) it should take you to the start of the show. I'm only guessing but could it be a power of your CPU thing?

I haven't had this problem but maybe the answer is in this thread
