I just bought a HVR-900 to get on the DVB-T train when it is officially released in the next month or so and so have been playing around with it, and GB-PVR this weekend.

TV1 & TV2 pick up fine on DVB-T but none of the other channels are live here yet so I needed to get these from the good ole analogue system.

I tried putting in the channel numbers in Antenna mode but only picked up TV3 and C4. Then I noticed a post from sub saying that you needed to use Cable mode to pick up all the required channels here so went in to the Tuning Assistant and found the cable channel numbers I required, entered them into the config and away I went.

However this is where I came across a problem. I'm getting picture but no sound on the analogue channels.
I did a bit of forum searching and couldn't find anything so I did a bit of investigation.

Looking at the logs I see
Quote:2008-03-09 14:00:03.117 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: WinTV HVR-900
Looking at direct.ini I see under the HVR-900 section
Quote:FILTER_CAPTURE_AUDIO=WinTV HVR-900
And looking at the filter check I don't see that but I do have
Quote:13:28:41.829 INFO found: WinTV HVR-900 Capture
13:28:41.841 INFO - (output) Capture
13:28:41.841 INFO - (input) Analog Video In
13:28:41.841 INFO - (output) VBI
13:28:41.841 INFO - (output) Audio
13:28:41.841 INFO - (input) Analog Audio In

I have tried playing around with direct.ini but to no avail.

Removing the line made no difference. Changing the line to match what i found using filtercheck meant I no longer got any picture either. I tried various other small changes in the hope something would work but so far nothing has got me sound.

Please help me! TV just isnt the same without sound.

Sorry, but unfortunately this device doesnt have the required hardware MPEG2 encoder, so isnt usable in GB-PVR for analog.

It is usable for DVB-T though.

Thanks for the extremely quick reply.

Unfortunate it won't work for analogue. Very wierd that I can get picture just not sound.

Shouldn't be a problem soon though as DVB-T should soon be all that I need. Good to know I don't have to waste any more time trying to get it working.

I'm having the same problems with this device + loads more that i wont go into.

I have noticed that if i run PVRX2 i can watch the live tv without audio but if i use graphedit and set it up : WinTV HVR-900 Audio - AC3 Filter - Soundblaster Live 24 bit
and run i can hear the audio from the current channel and also subsequent channel's audio.

Is there any way to implement this into PVRX2,Settings/Config file etc?

Whilst it can be relatively easy to get the audio working in live tv, its not so straight forward to get recording working, and I'm not interested in getting devices only partially working. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply

So basically i should be able to get audio working for live TV. Things are that bad just now I'd be happy with that Smile

Having lots of problems. WinTV doesnt work at all. Wont even pick up analogue channels whereas PVRX2 does so am trying to figure it all out at the minute.

Thanks again.

No. GB-PVR wont work with analog channels on this device. It would work for DVB-T digital channels though.

so guys?

any solution for the sound problem with the analogs?

i keep on reading different forum and i cannot find the solution to this problem...

i bought 3 days ago the WinTV-HVR-900. everything went smoothly during the setup and when i came to the point to scan the analog channels (because i only have access to analog channels since i live in ireland) the card found the 3 channels that i can watch here.

so far so good... the problem came when i tuned into those channels only to find out that there is NO sound....

i saw a guide on how to fix the problem for linux users. but nothing for win xp.

when i got in touch with the support line they told me to update the drivers and i did so... but still no sound....

HELP please

you will have to use different software if you want to use the analog part of the hvr900
