[DVB-S] Error during Mapping Digital Channels on DVB-S2 transponder-data in ini

I just installed the new version of GB-PVR and it seems it still has the same issues with previous versions. As soon as it tries to scan a DVB-S2 transponder it crashes with the following error:

System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal)
at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info)

It seems that the scan is breaking on the information ",S2" in the ini (this is from the 0192.ini):

32=11914,H,27500,910,S2

According to the changelog of v1.2.9 it should support DVB-S2:

- added DVB-S2 support for FireDTV and Hauppauge DVB-S2 devices. Unable to test, but should work

For the time being, I removed the ,S2 in the ini so that the scan should work (I hope). But I think this option should not break the scan, since you need to know if a transponder is DVB-S2. Right? And seems that the ,S2 is in the default transponder ini's which is installed using the installer.

Ok, I've removed the ,S2 and scanning is going ok. However, no S2 channels have been detected. Only one problem still remaining, my provider (Canal Digitaal NL) isn't detected during the scan :x

In the cases where it has "S2" in the these tuning files, I know the transponder is DVB-S2, but its lacking a few more bits of required info (Pilot and RollOff). Unfortunately I didnt have the required information available for all satellites, but if you can find it then I can help you turn that "S2" into the number that should be in its place.

That said, in the cases where it has "S2" it shouldnt crash though. Its supposed to recognise it as S2, but without the Pilot and RollOff info, so it wont manage to lock the signal, but should continue on. I'll look into this.

Thanks for the info I do have a INI file with the values you seek (Hotbird 13.0e, Astra 19.2e, Astra 23.5e, Astra 28e and Eurobird 28e). I'll test them and try to include them ASAP.

I'm trying to get my DVB-S provider (Canal Digitaal NL) working using GB-PVR. The strange thing seems to happen where it's skipped. However, from the config.exe.log it does seem to get information (here's an example from the log concerning my provider):

I'm doing the scan using a HVR-4000 card with the latest drivers installed. With other software (tested it with Mediaportal and DVBViewer) the scan and information seems to get through.

Any help would be appreciated!

The reason these channels arent showing up is because its failing to find the audio PIDs. Its mostly likely because the broadcaster is using some less common audio descriptor for identifying this, and GB-PVR doesnt understand this descriptor.

If you have access to a web site, and have the technology (cant be done in GB-PVR) to be able to do a 30 second full transport stream recording, then I can download the file fix it for you.

Concerning the Transport Stream Recording. Do you mean a standard TS-recording? In that case, I'll make one now.

There are two recordings. One is from the channel BVN (un-encrypted, FTA) and one is from the channel NED2. I hope this is what you're looking for. I'm on a 1Mbit upload, so please have some patience

There is two ways that applications can make transport stream recordings.

1) full transport streams, which effectively include every bit that comes from the capture device. Multiple audio and video streams contain in the TS, aswell as info about the channels available. These recordings are large.
2) partial transport streams, which contain only a single audio and video stream. All other info is thrown away.

GB-PVR (and lots of apps) record partial transport streams, so the information used to identify channels etc have been thrown away, and isnt useful for me to identify why these channels arent being found. So I need a 'full transport stream' recording. You may have other apps already that can do this. Some users in the past have used DVBStreamExplorer to record these, or TSReader (non-freeware version).

I think I now made a full transport stream recording by enabling all features within DVBViewer :



The new file as been uploaded the former URL. If this doesn't seem to work, I'll try DVBStreamExplorer instead.

I think that is a partial transport stream. In only contains the one channel's PIDs instead of the multiple you'd get. The file is also too small.

Ok, then I've got a small problem. DVBStream Explorer has such a large setup that I'm not able to setup the program correctly (My display is set at 1280x720). And TSReader costs $99, a bit much for my taste.

Maybe one of the others may help by getting a full stream. You can use BVN since it's FTA on Astra 19.2e.
