Used one of my govm't subsidies to buy a Magnavox digital tv converter box from Walmart. I want to see if I can get IR Blaster on PVR-150 to control it. Has anyone had luck with a particular setting? Also, how do I tell gbpvr to tune to fractional (ex. 2.1) channel?

I still have the other coupon, if there is a better (cheap) converter box out there for gbpvr integration....

After further investigation it appears that others have not found standard magnavox codes to work, which seems to be really bothering some tivo users. I did see a post somewhere that somebody had success programming a low cost universal learning remote to control it, so the codes can't be that exotic.

Does anyone know how to get hauppage's attention to add this to the IR blaster config list, or if somebody publishes the codes, is there a way to update IR blaster on the pvr 150 outside the hauppage tools? And what to do with gbpvr and this device's need to use decimals?

Hauppauge does periodically add new codes to it's ir blaster config app, but my guess is it's only after people contact support. They aren't the most responsive group, but they do add new codes from time to time.

FWIW the Zenith DTT900 has great reviews, & is supposed to take standard Zenith codes working with universal remotes. Circuit City & some Radio Shacks have them for about $10 more than your Magnavox, or get one under the Insignia brand name at Best Buy.

There's bound to be other boxes available, but you've only got 90 days to use your coupon, and once more coupons hit the mailboxes there's some fears that the boxes will be hard to come by, so waiting is a slight bit of a crap shoot.

Other than that there is some software to customize blasters & their remotes I believe, but it's something I only came across looking for something else so I can't give more details -- sorry.

Thanks...I will try to confirm. Do you happen to know if the standard Zenith codes are part of the hauppage set? I'm too lazy/busy to look. I have until May to pull the trigger on my second coupon.

I Have two capture cards. A Hauppauge pvr-150 and 500. Is there a convertor box that is available that will work with these two cards and if so how do I go about setting it up?

I realize that I will probably need two convertor boxes, but it appears to me that the boxes always have you tune to channel 3 or 4. How will the card be able to change the channels on the box and work as a PVR with the epg?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance forumn,

Thats three tuners, so you'd probably need three of these converter boxes, and you'd prbably need to connect to them via the composite/svideo connectors on your cards (particularly for the PVR500, which only has the one coax in).

Hi Sub,

Even if I use three converter boxes how do you tell GBPVR when to record the shows and how do you get the converter boxes to change to the proper channel?

You'd need IR Blasters to tell the convert boxes to change channels.

Multiple boxes with IR Blasters can be a bit complex but if you do a forum search you'll find posts about how others have done it.

HI Sub,

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an IR blaster? I will check the other forum's for a way of doing it, but short explination of what an IR blaster is would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for your time..
