Hi mvallevand

I've tried to get mvpmcx2 to work with Show Center with no luck, probably because of the complicated set up for the server connection.

Using Swiss Center with Show Center is a doddle as the installation is completely automatic.

From the Swiss Center forum I see that the Simese server now works OK with all Syabas based units including PCH.

Is it possible to use the Simese server with mvpmcx2 so as to get automatic connection for all Syabas based systems?

In your Installation guide I see that you say that any server can be used but there are no instructions for non programmers as to how to achieve this.

Thanks for the good work so far. I use gbpvr with freeview for all my recording and being able to use the interface from the TV would be great.

Since mvpmcx2 is a compiled binary it will only run on the architecture it was designed for. The NMT platform uses a MIPS processor and most of the older Syabas based hardware are based on the ARM processor so running the binary isn't going to work although in typical linux fashion it will probably tell you file not found.

In addition x2 makes heavy use of DirectFB for the UI and this wasn't used int the Sigma SDK for the older EM85xx or EM862x chips that were used in the older players. Work started on porting the original mvpmc to a MediaGate MG35 which was ARM running on a EM85xx based machine but I felt there were too many roadblocks in the way of porting emulation mode and I still feel that way, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done by someone with an interest.

For the older hardware the DSM-320 seems to be the only one with at least some support from the opendsm320 group http://groups.google.com.tw/group/opendsm320

Serveral people have been flashing there own firmwares. The main dificulty is making shure you don't brick your hardware. It would probably be better if cifs was ported onto it so we could work on a running machine without haveing to reflash changes. If you have one there is an easy way to turn on the telnet daemon. Goto Setup->Version, highlight "check for updates" then press menu,pgup,pgup,pgdn,2 then the starting telnet daemon message will pop up on the screen.

That reminds me I still have to sell my unopened DSM 320.

Thanks for the interest.

PCH is very much the new kid on the block and there must be far more of the older media units being used by gbpvr users. The fact that Simese can work with both old and new units shows that there can be a universal solution and I would suggest that a universal interface for mpvmcx2 would have far more users.

The latest Show Center 250 is still using the same hardware as the 200 i.e older hardware is still being manufactured. The 200 can have the 250 firmware installed, although it is still in beta. I've had no problems installing the new firmware although some have experienced unrecoverable malfunction, apparently because they interrupted the firmware installation in mid stream.

Just an afterthought.

The new Show Center 250 is apparently (and incredibly) being delivered with no software, so purchasers will be looking for something like gbpvr as an interface.

Thanks for your comments. Probably if I went back in time I'd try and support the xbox, but it more likely for me that when x2 becomes x3 it will be on a current machine like the ps3. mvpmc is an open source project and that doesn't stop someone who has a Pinnacle device from continuing their own development.

Thanks also for pointing out Simese server. I might compare it with sub's PCH server for performance and resource.

Edit: I just saw your other post and that is more reason to see if you can find a champion for porting mvpmc assuming user binaries can even be incorporated.
