I have come across a weird problem with my QAM recordings, using an HVR-1600. Suddenly there has started being a stutter in the recording every few seconds, it just skips ahead say a half-second in the video, but audio and video stay in sync. Weird thing is, this only happens on scheduled recordings; it does not happen if I watch live TV, and fast-forward/rewind it.

It may be related to upgrading to GB-PVR 1.2.9, and I'll try downgrading next but maybe someone has experience with this and can help? It also might be of note that at the same time this started happening, I had to change the Tuning Request for one of my QAM channels, as it seemed to shift by one place in my scanned channels list. Perhaps my cable company (Time Warner LA) is reconfiguring their QAM signal? Anything I can do to compensate for this? Thanks!!

Do those recordings stutter if you play them back in WinTV or WMP?

Hi,

I have the exact same problem. I tried playing the recording back in WMP and they seem to stutter. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my low PC specs but live TV has no stuttering problems at all.

My PC specs are Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, Windows MCE, 1 Gig Memory, Hauppauge 1600.

Recordings are off RCN cable using QAM.

Anyone have any ideas on this? (Do I need to replace the quartz.dll as stated in another thread? But live TV seems ok... *shrug*)

Thanks.

I have the same problem after recording with my hvr1600 on SD channels. Some recordings stutter more than others. Playing the file in VLC I still get the stutter.

I use comskip as well, could they bee connected?

Sorry Sub just saw this, guess the forum-watching emails aren't always going out...? Yes they stutter in WMP/VLC/other players too. I should also mention it only happens in QAM-side recordings, ie the dvr-ms files. If it records something using the NTSC tuner in mpg format, there is no stutter.

I also tried downgrading; still stuttering.

I remember some HVR1600 QAM users having this problem in the early days, but I thought Hauppauge resolved it. Make sure you're using the latest drivers. If that doesnt help, experiment with different mux options.

I have stuttering in NTSC on my HVR 1600.
How do I choose what mux to use to record the show..? is that even possible?

I have the same problem

My recordings stutter, using HVR1600 QAM recordings, so i would be interested if someone has some resolutions, the only thing for me i think it has something to do with the Mpeg decoder as they play fine on VLC and streaming to PCH through myihome. Only GBPVR and WMP have issues

In the 1.2.13 release, select the "TS Mux" option on the top left of the Misc2 tab of the config app.
