cropping the sides on live tv

hi all

i have tried to search the forums and the wiki for this, but am having no luck

have no othe rproblems with livetv on th eMVP, other than it definately crops the sides of the image, and possibly the top/bottom..

no variations of the TVs picture settings make any odds
i had tried the yellow box drawing thingy, but saw the howle box first time, so didnt think that was the answer..
is the zProcess plugin the the direction i should be going in or am i, once again missing something simple

You can probably solve this by either using the Hauppauge software and setting your TV up as 16:9 or use mvpmc which should be able to adjust video from 4:3 to 16:9 automatically even as livetv changes shows.

zehd and I have different opinions on whether the yellow box adjusts the video size. If mvpmc doesn't solve your problem, zehd might be able to help.

have managed to get the mvpmc going
and sure enough, now th epicture is not bein cropped, great..

sadly it has thrown up anothe rcouple of problems

1. tv playback is very choppy, for maybe 20-30 secs, then seems to sort itself out, but then often seems to be out of synch and i have to change the channel and back again to get it working

2. now can no longer watch XVids, just resets the GBpvr app, kicks me back to the MVPMC app - this was working before using the dongle supplied with GB-PVR.
after havin changed the muxer
did then switch back to the old dongle, but that isnt working now either, guess i may have flipped a setting inadvertantly , but dont think so

just went down the simple route - i hope, to get mvpmc going - which was to simply replace the dongle.bin in the gbpvr dongle directory, then power off/on the MVP

but couldnt work out where to put the .config, if indeed there are settings in there that might help..

I don't have any explanation for what you are seeing. mvpmc doesn't need you to make any changes to you gbpvr setup except for the dongle name. I don't understand 20-30 seconds of choppiness or the sync issue unless you are running wireless where Hauppauge definitely has an advantage, they would not release any info to use on how to use the drivers.

If xvids just stopped working you have other issues too, if recordings work ok.

Sorry I can't help on this one You can upload your logs with mvpmc running but I actually don't expect to see anything.
