Hi,

I'm only a GB-PVR user for one week, but I already love it [Image: biggrin.gif] I'm using a EPIA MII10000 and XP SP1a. Yesterday I did a recording of a TV show. When it was finished I wanted to see it. I noticed two problems with this:

1. Missing sound when forwarding (has already been reported)
2. Audio/Video sync problems...

The strange thing is when I use WinDVD as player the whole playback is not a problem. Does anyone have tips on how I can improve playback within GB-PVR [Image: rock.gif]

BTW How do I know that whether the EPAI CLE266 MPEG decoder is used [Image: rock.gif]

My other issue is Dvix playback, again playback with the 'original' Divx player is not a problem. But when I tried it from GB-PVR I only get black and white video ?!?!?!?

Anyway, I hope someone has some pointers for me.

Regards,
Jodocus.

What tuner card are you using?

Regarding the EPIA decoder, I think you can find what you want to know in this thread

gbpvr does not support divx I think. Are you using gbpvr on a pc screen?

I'm using TV-out. ....

@stefan: Thanks for the link about the EPIA MPEG decoder [Image: smile.gif]

About Divx, I've read before that it doesn't support Divx, but how is it possible that I get a picture at all in that case ??!?!??!

It might be nice if it would be possible to use external applications for this part. That would give Sub some extra holiday time Tongue

I've never used divx with gbpvr, so I can't answer your question. That said, I believe that in the release notes for 0.23 it's stated that some problem with divx is fixed. This to me implies that divx is supported :-)

Hope someone else can answer your b/w issue...

Sure =) Play around with different mpeg codecs. Never use any codec packs found on the internet. Try using overlay instead of vmr9/7. I have the same machine you do (but pvr-350) and find that the machine is a little on the weak end when using software decoding. If I have any other program using the processor the playback is studdering.

Try defragmenting the hard drive. That does wonders to this issue on slow machines. At least on mine :-)

I've just installed Cyberlinks' decoder it looks like things have improved. I also now use VMR9 instead the overlay manager. Can anyone explain the exact difference between these.

Previously I've used Intervideo, but this does not work with VMR9...I've read somewhere on the forum that this is a familiar problem ?!?!?!

It also look as if processor is now no longer going to 100%...I'll do some test and write here my results...perhaps 'Overlay Manager' related [Image: rock.gif]

When you use the Cyberlink decoder it forces Overlay regardless of whether you've selected VMR. The Cyberlink decoder doesnt support VMR. You can tell its using Overlay because there is none of the flash looking semi transparent OSD.

Well I did some tests. Cyberlink improved things a LOT !!! I do get some OSD, but it's not semi-transparant. It's still not completly clear on what the difference is between VMR and overlay manager [Image: rock.gif]

Also processor load has decreased when using Cyberlink, 100% only happends when I do 60 seconds skips, currently around 80-90% during playback. Further more, Divx now works correctly. I get color [Image: biggrin.gif] How ? No idea !!! Maybe installing Cyberlink changed a setting [Image: rock.gif]

By setting the priority of the application to 'Above normal' playback and responsiveness has improved Tongue

I did tweak XP with the help of:

www.tweakfactor.com/articles/tweaks/xptweak/1.html

Tomorrow I'm going to replace the processor fan, so things are not so loud. Looks like I'm all set to enjoy my GB-PVR system Tongue...
