In Recordings I have a show called "I Shouldn't Be Alive" with multiple recorings. On my recordings drive, there is a folder called "I Shouldnt Be Alive" (note the missing '). I put the show icon in that folder and called it folder.jpg. In my gbpvr dir, in the media\art folder, I put the same file and called it both "I Shouldnt Be Alive.jpg" and "I Shouldn't Be Alive.jpg", but the icon doesn't show by the recordings. I've restarted PVRX2.exe but it made no difference.

What and where do show icons get placed for shows that have ' or : in the title?

What is the recording filename (not show name)? It should be that exact filename replacing the extension with .jpg.

In media\art I have both "I Shouldnt Be Alive.jpg" and "I Shouldn't Be Alive.jpg", and the show icon doesn't display.

It should be something like "I Shouldnt Be Alive_20080313_16001700.jpg" to have an image for an individual recording.

That can't be true, as I have "Breed All About It.jpg" in media/art and have the following recordings:

The "I Shouldnt Be Alive_20080313_16001700.jpg" I suggested above would have worked fine.

The ' in the filename wouldnt have worked with the 'fallback to folder.jpg' logic, but its fixed in the attached patch.

Like I said, I have shows above called "Breed All About It_20070401_06300700.mpg" and the show icon in the Recording folder is displayed from the file "Breed All About It.jpg". I didn't have to put the timestamp on the filename. Is this because the show doesn't have a ' in the filename, so works for a file named after the show name, and that "I Shouldn't Be Alive", because it has a ' in the show name, will only work when a file is named after each MPG file? That seems like a bug to me. Shouldn't the show icon always be named after the show? Is there a reason why ' is considered invalid? There are many shows that have ' or : in the filename. Is : also considered invalid?

It would have needed the timestamp in the file. ie "Breed All About It_20070401_06300700.jpg". If it didnt have a filename match, then it falls back to looking for a default 'folder.jpg' image. This last fall-back step was having a problem with the ' character but that is corrected in the patch I posted.

This is a working the way it was designed to. There are several characters that are stripped from the show name when constructing a filename to make sure we end up with a valid windows filename. :/\?*'`%><| and a few others. They still shown in the recordings screen with the correct show title containing those, but the filename has been manipulated slightly to avoid problems.

Does it look for the show icon, named after the show (and without the timestamp), in media\art? Or does it expect the timestamp as well (that would make no sense, as one would have to have the same file many times because timestamps are different every time a show is recorded)? If that file isn't found, does it look for "folder.jpg" in the directory for the show on your defined PVR drive (in my case F:\)?

I'm confused as to naming of folder icons, show icons, and location of each.
Does GBPVR use media\art, or is that other plugins?
