Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to edit channel names.

I've got "BBC1 London and South East" in the TV Guide. How can I change to this to "BBC1"?

I've tried editing it in config program, although I can select the text, I can't edit it. Maybe I'm looking in place?

Thanks
Alan

Hi,

I'm using xmltv.exe, radio times.

I've got as far as editing
".xmltv\tv_grab_uk_rt.conf" to remove excess stations.
so that has
channel london.bbc1.bbc.co.uk

share\xmltv\tv_grab_uk_rt\channel_ids
has got listing of
london.bbc1.bbc.co.uk|94|BBC ONE London|http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/logo/tv/bb/bbc1.jpg

but somehow becomes
"BBC1 London and South East" in the TV Guide

I've just come across GB-PVR so everything is all new to me.

Thanks
Alan

With an xmltv source like this, you'd need to find a way to get the grabber to produce the channel name you want.

Hi,

I was using Showshifter before which allowed you to edit the channel names on display, even though it was pulling info in from xmltv :p

I'll have to hunt down how to do it in xmltv.

If anyone else knows how to do it in xmltv, please chip in Big Grin

Thanks
Alan

I use xmltvgui from Alan Birtles. It already has a module to "fix" BBC local names.
(well at least I didn't have to do anything to get it to work). It also has setup options to pick and choose the channels it pulls down.

It is a gui but can be run as a command line util from the scheduler or bat file

Thanks for that.

I just got to him and was downloading the software to test. He was the 14th entry under "xmltv edit channel name" on google.

Thanks for the confirmation that it works Smile

Best regards

Hi,

That took some doing!!!

It's all to do with altchnames.txt
I added
BBC1 London & South East,BBC1
BBC2 London & South East,BBC2
to the end of that file.

altchnames.txt comes from
http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/ind...names_Text
from the freeview zip file and you need to add the associated script into the right directory and tick it to work.

But after all that ... it works!

Best regards
Alan

But now the pictures for the channels are gone!

I'm going back to overlapping channel names!
