I have a DVD-Video disc and I can't navigate the menus using PVRX2. I am just using the PC arrow keys. When I press left or right it adjusts the volume.

This is what I have tried:
I can navigate menus on other DVD-Videos (and DVDs)
I have Cyberlink PowerDVD and can navigate the DVD menus using the arrow keys.
I have changed the DVD play back Navigation to Cyberlink and this still does nothing.
Version 1.1.5 didn't work so I thought I would upgrade to 1.2.9. Same problem.
I have edited DVDplayer.xml to delete the left/right buttons. This did stop the volume being adjusted, but I still can't navigate.

I am a bit lost.... anyone got any ideas.

Many thanks

You'll still need this in there, just not the volume related ones. Is this what you have?
<command name="DVD_LEFT" key="Left"/>
<command name="DVD_RIGHT" key="Right"/>

Thanks for your reply McBain, but still no luck
I deleted the following from Dvdplayer.xml
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_UP" key="Add"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_DOWN" key="Subtract"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_UP" key="Oemplus"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_DOWN" key="OemMinus"/>
and left in
<command name="DVD_LEFT" key="Left"/>
<command name="DVD_RIGHT" key="Right"/>

Oddly... left and right still adjusts the volume

The file is below

<mappings>
<command name="DVD_SUBTITLES" key="^Y"/>
<command name="DVD_AUDIO" key="^G"/>
<command name="DVD_OSD" key="^B"/>
<command name="DVD_MENU" key="Home"/>
<command name="DVD_ASPECT_RATIO" key="F7"/>
<command name="DVD_ESCAPE" key="Escape"/>
<command name="DVD_ENTER" key="Enter"/>
<command name="DVD_STOP" key="^S"/>
<command name="DVD_FASTFORWARD" key="^F"/>
<command name="DVD_REWIND" key="^D"/>
<command name="DVD_SKIP_FORWARDS" key="^Right"/>
<command name="DVD_SKIP_BACKWARDS" key="^Left"/>
<command name="DVD_UP" key="Up"/>
<command name="DVD_DOWN" key="Down"/>
<command name="DVD_LEFT" key="Left"/>
<command name="DVD_RIGHT" key="Right"/>
<command name="DVD_PAUSE" key="^Q"/>
<command name="DVD_PLAY" key="^P"/>
<command name="DVD_VIDEO_PLUGIN" key="F11"/>
<command name="DVD_TV_GUIDE" key="F1"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_MUTE" key="^M"/>

I seem to remember that some people have had problems in the pass with some decoders not showing them the subpicture graphics which are used to show the current selection. They fixed it by changing decoders.

Not sure if you're running something like eventghost or HIP, but when the DVD is playing GBPVR loses focus in those apps sometimes (only in the apps, if you have hauppauge and the like you're ok). I had to remamp my eventghost because it said that explorer had control during GBPVR DVD playback so I made a profile for that.

Old version of the Cyberlink decoder, which were incompatible with VMR9, can cause this. They end up poping up an Overlay window in the foreground and keypress go nowhere. The VMR9 window is sitting behind the other window (still waiting for key presses)

I uninstalled Cyberlink PowerDVD and rebooted but still the same problem. The left and right arrow keys adjust the volume.
For some reason I think the DVD is being treated as a video file (such as .avi) and there for, the DVD navigation functions aren't available. Although in saying that the 'DVD' submenu does appear when I move the mouse.

gazoo, I am running EventGhost, but I am using the keyboard arrow keys so EventGhost won't be triggered.

I will try changing VMR9 and tried the other renderers, just tried
VMR9 Exclusive Fullscreen
EVR (locked up)
Overlay Manager (didn't play)
Same issue.....

Reproduce the problem then post the logs and I'll see if anything stands out.
