Hi!

I have just set up the GB-PVR -> PCH streaming and this is my experiance. Firstly though I would really like to congratulate Mvallevand and Sub for a truly fantastic job! Great work guys!

1) I followed the installation and survival guide to the letter.
2) I have a CRT PAL 16:9 TV so I set -m pal and corresponding width and height in config.xml
3) I have telnet connection Ok.
4) I started the GB-PVR client on the PCH. First time perfect result! No problems at all.

The I started fiddling a little with config.xml and the command line options.
Then I got the black screen problem. The client does not display a picture, so I havet to reboot the PCH for every try.

So I tried to reset every change I had done, even downloading all script files and client again and reinstall them. No luck.
Then I tried to telnet the PCH and start the mvpmcx2 client manually to see what is going on. And then - instant success!! The client started without problems. And then I could easily start GB-PVR from PCH the normal way again. Until reboot of the PCH - back to black screen problem AGAIN.
I am really at a loss here. What is going on?
When I start the client manually the first time and then skip out to the telnet.html page I can start GB-PVR fine, but not from a fresh reboot.
The command line options are the same from manual start as from scripted start.

Really strange IMHO...

I have S-video hooked up and I have also created a SCART cable (as described in a HOW-TO on NMT forums). Both are hooked up and producing video fine - when it is functioning properly. I Think the Video settings are Component PAL + SCART On from PCH config. That seemed to produce the best picture.

Loading GB-PVR is a two step process. You have to start the Telnet script after each fresh boot and then run the GBPVR script when you want to load GB-PVR.

Ah thanks!

So simple... That was NOT clear to from the install guide though Wink I merely thought the telnet step was for troubleshooting.

Could these two be combined somehow? Or is the scripting support on the PCH too limited? I think the extra step might be limiting on the WAF side Smile

Frankly, I think you guys aren't giving your wives enough credit on this one, and their ignorance can easily be overcome. Since many of you don't, I will distribute a third script that calls each of these.

I think Stylus' suggestion from last week is much better than simply combining scripts, I just haven't gotten to it.

Ok, actually I am giving my wife quite a bit of credit on this. She is smart enough to handle this. I was merely concerned for all the other wives Wink
The drawback of the two-step method is that it includes extra steps and waiting though wich affects us all.

I actually tried to chain these scripts together, but I failed to get it to work. My shell scripting abilities are a bit rusty I must confess though...

Matrin,

Can you please add this note to the survival guide? It was not obvious to me either, and it may be helpful for new users.

But, I just got my PCH the other day, and after very little set up, I'm using GBPVR. Great job! Thanks

No, in fact I was thinking I may never have met anyone from NZ. I've met several Australians doing their "walkabouts" here, but I guess you guys drink at home.

Wow, never met any Kiwis? You don't know what you have been missing! Just let me know when you plan to visit "GBPVR's hometown" and I will find you a bed!

Unfortunately I have still a black screen after starting GB-PVR.
Starting of Telnetd gives "started on port 23...."

Any suggestions?
