HDD spindown isn't part of the kernel, mvpmcx2 would have to control it using the hdparm command.

ISTR Some drives (WD?) can be told to spind down after x minutes on their own.

With the current firmware, the HD spins down after ~5 minutes of inactivity. Sooo much nicer to not hear the whine of the drive at random times in the TV room anymore.

martin123, to replay to your message in a more relevant thread resume can be implemented several ways, none are confirmed.
1. sub can do it with a complete update for the PCH of the mvp resume logic in pvrx2.exe and a smarter web server 2. developer could create a plugin and custom web server. 3. mvpmcx2 can do it by implementing the Hauppauge media protocol as a fuse file system. sub would need to implement changes to the way resume is presented (move it before the video starts). 4. use the Syabas hard-disk approach if and when it comes 5. wait to see what tricks (if any) sub and I can do for option 4 Martin

I'd love to use this w/ GBPVR - however, if they don't fix the time issues w/ TS file playback, I don't know if it will work as expected (just like skipping can be off sometimes by 3 minutes or more in long movies).

I missed this function with MVP because I have to turn it off to use the PCH. I got 3.5 harddrive in the PCH and it generated a lot of heat. I planned to replace it with 2.5 hard drive soon.

I'd definately add a USB stick for this considering the current cost of a 1GB
