The resume function on the PCH is a good step forward, but I found out it has at least one small downside for GBPVR. When you've recorded a show and watched it on the PCH and you record another show with the same title (on another date) and play it on the PCH, the PCH thinks you've already watched it and starts playing the file from the resume point of the first recording. This is because the http stream uses short file names, for example:
Code:
stream?f=E%3a\RECORD~1\GOEDET~1\GOEDET~1.TS
As you can see, there's no time and date in this file name.
I know there's a setting in config.xml called <MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>, but that's set to false.

There are several reasons I prefer long names for mvpmcx2 but I think this is just a bug in 1.3.11 after sub corrected a problem with the config.xml setting and added a test mode for me.

is there a way of turning resume off completely? I'm pretty happy with not having it on the popcorn hour, and so if I see this happening on the pch it would quickly start annoying me.

You could add rm /tmp/mono_bookmark to your gbpvr.cgi file to get rid of an earlier session. However it isn't necessarily a major concern since for a short name to be reused the file would have had to be deleted after it had been stopped on the PCH before you reached the end of file.

Right, but for people that watch a show before the next episode is recorded and stop the show before the end due to commercials or extra padding at the end, it probably won't be that uncommon.

The WAF will take a hit if the next time she watches a new episode it jumps to the end for no apparent reason. Being single (for at least a few more months anyway) it's not a big deal for me, but I'm just saying...

Good point, I wasn't thinking about daily shows, and it's not just WAF. I would be annoyed to resume to hour 59 of back to back episodes of 24 etc.

That's exactly what happened last night!

Try this patch. You also need to have <MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT> set to false in config.xml for it to work though.
