In the CONFIG.XML file I noticed the following settings in the "Misc Video Recording Settings" section. Can you tell me exactly what effect they have.

1. <WhatsNewDayCount>

2. <RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays>

I'm guessing that the first item is the number of days after being recorded that a show still appears in the "Whats New" selection in the RECORDINGS plug-in.

I'm concerned about the second item because it seems to imply an automatic deletion of programs. If that is the case, what entry can we make to disable it?

I believe RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays is the number of days before a specific episode is considered new again by GBPVR.

Say episode x of show Y airs four times in a week, GBPVR will only record one of them. However, if episode x is recorded and then airs again after RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays expires, it will record it again.
GBPVR v1.4.7
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz
4 GB RAM, 160GB system drive
640GB recording drive
PVR-500 - analog cable stations
HDHomeRun - ASTC via antenna
nVidia GeForce 8600GT
1 PCH @ 1080p componenent (was NTSC via composite)
1 PCH @ 1080p HDMI (was component)

If that's the case, that is a level of sophistication that I didn't expect in the program.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm pretty sure that is correct but I think it only works if you are using Schedules Direct or an xmltv app that outputs the "dd_progid" info.

Quote:<WhatsNewDayCount>
When you click Recordings -> Whats New, it'll show you the previous 7 days of recordings by default. You can tweak this setting to whatever number of days you prefer.

Quote:<RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays>
The app keeps a history of shows you've recorded in the past, to make sure that it wont re-record them if they're aired again. This setting holds the number of days that historic information will be retained. The default is 40 days, so if you delete a show you'd recorded&watched, that same show will not be rescheduled for recording if it is listed again in the EPG in the next 40 days.

As described above, it will not delete shows. Its just about holding a history of the recordings you've manually deleted in the recent past.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that was the case.
