I have a Happauge WinTV tuner, and I use the WinTV scheduler with the TitanTV online service. I'll switch to GB-TV and probably ScheduleDirect depending on the answer to this question:

Can I "save" searches for shows that aren't currently on the schedule? For instance, if I wanted to tape every upcoming episode of "Doctor Who" and every Sophia Loren movie ever broadcast, can I set up GB-TV to do it?

Windows MCE has this ability but I don't have MCE.

there was a plugin recently talked about that had that kind of ability but i can't remember the name of it.

gbpvr in its "nilla" state will enable you to do season recordings that let you record every instance of the program on this channel etc etc, the plugin enabled you to search for actors etc

In the XRecord plugin the "Scheduler" button which is a graphical front end to CDK Scheduler utility has some advanced scheduling with queries etc. You might want to take a look at that.

The wiki gives very little information about EWA. So do the installation instructions. When I configure GBPVR to add a Capture Source, what do I put in the EPG box? Do I still need to install an Electronic Program Guide like ScheduleDirect? Does the EWA take the place of one?

Also, how do I run the EWA? Where is the command to start it?

EWA uses the same epg (and tuners, and directories etc) that pvrx2 does.

So the same method that pvrx2 asks for a list of recorded programs, or the same method that pvrx2 asks for a program to be recorded, EWA makes the same calls.

What is pvrx2? Are you saying that it would suit my needs as well as EWA?

In either case, when I install GB-PVR, how do I configure it to use EWA or pvrx2? And then what do I have to do in order to use EWA or pvrx2?

The EWA is just a web interface for GBPVR / PVRX2 allowing you to see the guide, schedule recordings and stream recordings, movies, music over the net (needs VLC on the server) It also allows for saved searches, more what you were asking - but I am unsure of how this works.

EWA is installed as part of gbpvr.

If you want to try it out, make sure it's enabled under the MISC tab in the config app, set a user & password then opena web browser and go to:

http://[SERVER IP]:7647/gbpvr/

(If you want access outside of your network, you'll have to port-forward in your router and use you external IP instead of internal)
You will probably have to alos open windows firewall for port 7647, and whatever port you choose to stream on.

I don't see anything about EWA there. Do you mean the box that says "Enabled GB-PVR Web Server on Port:"?

Quote:...set a user & password

Where do I do that?

What is my "server IP"?

I'm sorry, Jonny, but I didn't understand any part of that. Do I have to have this level of tech expertise to install GB-PVR? (

Maybe that's why the installation instructions were so unclear...there's no simple way to explain it!

This is the ip address/name of the machine that has the gbpvr software on it.

normally found by pinging the machine in question, or if gbpvr is installed on the same machine that you are working on then you would be able to type http://localhost:7647/gbpvr
