I am one of the many Linux/Myth converts here it appears...this is GREAT software...thanks Sub!

I have gone through and set up version 1.2.9 on my system with 2 Hauppauge 150s for SD, and have a HD Homerun for QAM via Charter Cable. Standard def TV works well albeit a "soft" picture that I am fine tuning. However, I seem to be having substantial problems troubleshooting my HD picture from the HD Homerun.

Here are my two problems:
1) The HD channels come through fine although I the picture isn't very smooth...seems like it is skipping frames...de-interlacing not set properly possibly. Thoughts?

2) However, my biggest concern is that after watching about 15 seconds of HD, I start getting a ton of pixelation making the picture completely unwatchable. After a few seconds, it will clear up again but then seconds later, it will go all pixelated again. What could be the problem here? I've tried numerous codecs and 2 or 3 different muxers without much effect. I have also played with many different settings and configs in the nvidia control panel. Have tried checking/unchecking the live tv box in config...nothing seems to resolve the problem. What am I missing?

TV:
Mitsubishi 55313 I think
1080i, 55" Rear Projector
Connect via DVI cable

System:
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe MB
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core
2 Gig of RAM
Seagate 500 Gig HD - SATA
Gigabyte GeForce 7300GS PCI-E Vid Card
2 - Hauppauge PVR 150
Silicon Dust HD Homerun
Windows XP - first tried w. SP2, now on SP3 - same problem under both

FYI, I have installed latest nvidia drivers, hauppauge drivers, etc.

Does it play smoothly when viewing in VLC? If you have a software firewall running, it may be having trouble keeping up with the data.

Ah whurlston, just the person I was hoping would see this since you seem like the forum expert on hd homerun on gbpvr!

When I set up the homerun, I believe it used VLC when initially tuning channels and I don't remember this being a problem, but then again I wasn't paying much attention. Will look at this tonight when I get home.

I am just using the Windows firewall right now, with the 2 or 3 gbpvr executables specified as exceptions so I don't think this is the problem. I also tried disabling my VirusScan Enterprise scanner to see if that made a difference, but no luck.

Adding the exceptions to the windows firewall should suffice there. Does the VirusScan Enterprise have firewall functionality or just antivirus? If it has firewall functionality, you may need to remove it altogether because "disabling" it doesn't actually disable it.

Actually I forgot that it does contain limited firewall functionality, so I will definitely look into that. Any other thoughts just in case that doesn't fix my vid problems?

I can't help with your homerun problem but as an fyi, this link has info on how to sharpen up the picture from the 150 (never used it myself as I don't own a 150)

I would use the DVRMS mux after sorting out the streaming issue until you find decoders that handle the deinterlacing properly.

So I added the exclusions into my VirusScan...no change. Tried completely disabling McAfee services from running...no change.

Recorded a high definition program. When played back through GBPVR or VLC the video was smooth and clear. Looked tremendous.

So obviously this seems to only be a live tv problem. What would you suggest that my next steps should be?

Watch live TV for a minute then watch a recording and zip and post the pvrx2*.log files. I suspect that you are using a different decoder for Live TV than you are for watching a recording.
