I have been using GP_PVr under XP for some time now . Recently I switched over to Vista and eveything is working except for the MCE IR Blaster. Remote seems to work ok but no channel changing. When I try and create a new defiinition in the config applications it just goes to "waiting" and then says someting about learning finished. As I recall under XP it asked for button presses to learn the numeric and enter keys. I have spent about two hours looking for a solution on the forum and wiki but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Its not advised that you use the built in MCE blaster support - it was never completed. Instead you should look using HIP or IR Server Suite.

Ok I have spend some time trying to get HIP installed and gave up on that. Most recently I tried IrServer Suite and all though it seems to have installed correctly the blaster part is not working. I followed the instructions in the wiki. The MCE receiver will not recognize any button pushes from the settop box remove(scientific atlantic 4200) in the learing section of IR server. The remove does work with GPPVR using the suggested xml file. By the way I also modified the registry setting deleting the "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3". I was somewhat unsure if this is still necessary. Again any help from the good people of this forum would be appreciated.

I would really like to get this working I hate VISTA MCE.

If not already done, I believe with Vista you DO need to install the MCE Replacement Driver from http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mce-re...ete-29024/

Have you installed the replacement driver?

I am having the same trouble. But I just read on that link to the mediaportal forum that the 64 bit drivers don't work. I tried to install them anyway and received a "devcon" error. What other possibilities do I have for Vista x64?

I installed IRsuite 1.4.2 RC1 and tried to run "Input Service Configuration" but it immediately gave a Windows error "Input Service Configuration has stopped working." So I closed it and uninstalled it and installed version 1.0.4.1 and it had the same error.

Any suggestions? I am using Vista x64 if that has anything to do with it.

markbb1, thanks for the help. I did not install the MCE replacement driver. I did read the thread you pointed our several times and still do no see clearly where it say that if you use VISTA you need the replacement driver.

However since it does say "If you're just here for the Vista replacement driver then I've forced you to read all that for nothing, just grab the attachment, it has what you want " which I guess says the same thing.

I will post this question over at Media Portal Forum and perhaps "and-81" will confirm. Thanks again for the help.

I am using IR Server Suite with Vista Premium and all I had to do was delete the "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3" keys in the registry. I am using the default driver with no problem so it is possible.

Just to be clear here, dark_half, are you using the MCE remote that was intended for the XP version? I had trouble getting the Vista MCE remote to work with XP, don't know if the reverse is true or not. Also, in the same area of the registry as the codeset stuff is a key marked "debounce". If you are using a third party universal remote, set the from 1 to 0. That lets me use my MX500 remote with MCE with no problem. Something about the MCE remote has 2 sets of codes for each command and by default toggles between them. A normal remote will only work with every other keypress if you don't turn debounce off.

dark half , good to know. I am using VISTA Home. The only part not working is the Blaster. When I try and learn a button press from the STB remote there is no response from the software and after a while it times out. I am using version 1.0.4.1 and installed the server suite and the MCE replacemnt plugin plus the GB-PVR XML file. So any ideas why the blaster part is not workiong? thanks again.

I am using the mce reciever and remote that came with my PVR150MCE when I bought it a few years ago.

Mine just worked. I did not install the replacement driver because it has issues bring my pc out of standby. The only thing I recall when learning from my remote was that I had to be close to the mce reciever(a few inches away).
