Hello,

still using a crt with an xcard for my media, but am becoming increasingly frustrated with the limits of tvedia 3.5. GBPVR 99.12 seems to work with my current setup and single technotrend tuner, but I was wondering if anyone had experiences of using the xcard in combo with 99.12 and the nova-t 500 dual tuner. Does it work? Is it stable? Any input would be much appreciated.

Its not worth trying to use an XCard with GB-PVR. It's been a very long time since the XCard worked with GB-PVR correctly. It was always a bit flakey. Sorry.

For TV purposes only it actually seems pretty functional - DVD and other video playback seems a bit weird, but I'm happy to stick with TVedia 4.2 for all that. My only stumbling block at the mo is that I dont have a remote that is compatible - but the nova-t comes with one. It would just be good to know in advance that it can work.

The Nova-T remote should work fine with GB-PVR.

Keep in mind, you're moving to software that was 18 months ago, and the xcard support hasnt worked with the software since then. I'm sure its going to be a frustrating experience, particularly since any bugs you find wont be able to be fixed.

Completely appreciate that its a condiguration that is no longer supported, still its great to have any kind of alternative available! Do you know if there should be any issues with the dual tuner setup of the nova-t in that configuration?

Cheers,

My first experience of GBPVR was with a Nova-T 500 and 99.12 - I don't remember having had any problems...

I still use 99.12 with an XCard for my PVR, and it actually works very well; there are a couple of workarounds involved, so if you are having any problems, let me know and I will try and help you out.

I was recently wondering if 99.12 was the last release that still worked with the XCard, as I could do with the later improved Multidec support, but I haven't dared mess with it. If anyone knows of a later version working, I would be glad to know.

Until this last release, GB-PVR also shipped with the discontinued 99.12 gbpvr.exe. But I doubt that the newer MutiDec support worked with the discontinued 99.12.

(Have I said discontinued enough :-) )
