Whenever I try to watch live tv using GB-PVR, there is a delay of approximately 20 seconds before it starts. Then, at about 3 minutes, the video freezes and the audio cuts out, then a few seconds later it drops back to the GB-PVR main menu.

All of the logs are attached to this message. I set it to the blue skin, disabled plugins using the check box in the config app, and had the "enable log flushing" box checked.

My system specs:

HP-Pavilion KJ302AA-ABA a6432f
Athlon 64 X2 (B) 5000+ 2.6 GHz (65W)
3.00 GB RAM
GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 chipset
Integrated video
Realtek High Definition Audio ALC 888S chipset
Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1
Windows experience base index 3.0
DWM.exe running, but most "aero" features disabled
UAC turned off for administrator, using registry hack in this article.

Try significantly increasing the live tv pre play delay setting in the config app, or switch to the live preview mode.

I increased the delay to its maximum, 4000msec. No change. I then enabled the preview mode, and a box popped-up when I started Live TV, asking me if I wanted to allow GB-PVR to use ffdshow. I had installed ffdshow earlier, to see if it would allow media center extender to play avi files on our X-Box 360 (it didn't), but I thought I didn't have GB-PVR configured to use it? Any way, I uninstalled ffdshow, and that eliminated the long delay when Live TV started, but it still crashed after a couple minutes.

So, I re-downloaded the GB-PVR installer, in case it might have gotten borked somehow, uninstalled then re-installed. And Live TV crapped out again after a few minutes.

This time, I noticed that the hard drive activity light went ballistic right about the time Live TV crashed. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, though, because it does that from time-to-time for no apparent reason, with no significant cpu usage displayed in taskmanager.

I tried to watch Live TV with vlc, which used to work on my old pc, with the settings as close to those used by GB-PVR as I could get. The picture froze and the audio went silent almost immediately. I attached the output of vlc's "messages", as well as GB-PVR's logs, in case that might help shed some light on the problem.

Do recordings work? ie, can you record for an hour or so?

Yeah, so far most of the recordings are fine. And, Live TV seems to be running fine now, as well! I didn't change anything in GB-PVR, so I guess Vista must have been throwing fits and somehow crashing it.

If you switch to live preview mode, does the problem go away?

The problem had apparently gone away on its own, with the pre-play delay back at 500msec and live preview mode off. I just now tried it with live preview on, and it "froze" with a still picture and no sound after about half a second. I was able to exit back to the main menu with the "esc" key on my keyboard.

Here are the most recent logs:
