I have tried searching for this, but am not sure exactly what to search under. What I want to do is to auto set the channels in the tuning request. When I map my digital channels to EPG channels it pulls about 200 channels. The thing is only about 10 channels work out of those 200 because I am using the clearQAM tuner and only want the local channels. It pulls every channel the cable company provides, but obviously most are blocked/scrambled except for the locals.

So back to my question. Is there a way to set it so the EPG only pulls the channels that work ie local. Or even a way to autoset the tuning request mode so I don't have to go through and check/uncheck all 200 channels and try to match up the 10 channels in that list.

Sorry if this is confusing, I am just trying to find an easier way than having to go through all the channels to find what ones work then figuring out what channel it actually is then having to set it to the channel in the EPG tuning request.

Thanks in advance for any help

If you only want the EPG to pull in a subset of the channels they have, then I'm sure you can do this at the EPG end of things. For example, on the Schedules Direct website you can edit your channel lineup to only include channels you know are local. When you recreate you capture source and do the 'update epg' step it'll just pull in those subset of channels you have enabled in your SD lineup. Most xmltv grabbers allow you do to something similar.

Of course you'll need to know in advance what channels your broadcaster is transmitting in the clear.

Ok, that makes sense, that is kind of what I was thinking. Now I use Windows Media Center on Vista for my EPG and the epg is set to pull only Digital channels. How do I go about setting what channels I want it to specifically pull? I will play around with it and see what I can figure out in the meantime.

Thanks again

edit: Okay I found a tab in my epg setting where I can select the channels. It looks like WMC uses Zap2it for the epg. If anyone can think of any otherways to do this feel free to respond.

Assuming you're using Schedules Direct for the EPG, you can edit your lineups on the Schedules Direct website.

If you are using my MceEpg2XmlTv utility, you can disable channels in the GUI. If you are using the new mc2xml, there is no way to disable channels.
