I am trying to set up a second computer as a client and am having a bit of trouble. I followed the Wiki and am using the streaming setup option.

When i try to load pvrx2 i get an unhandles exception error and a white screen with a red X in it. If you set it up as a server it loads fine. From what i have read it does not seem to be connecting to the server, and it shows 8 blank capute sources in the tray, the logs dont show much, but show it trying to connect to the server and then nothing else after that.

Could someone give me some guidance on how to set up the client PC to connect to the server.

Thanks
HTPC Server: 2.3gh AMD Quad 9600, 4GB ram, 320gb HDD, 1TB HDD, and 750GB External USB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 8600gt, Win 7 (32bit), (2x) HVR2250 using QAM

Client: AM2 5600, biostar 790GX (onbard HD3300), 4gb memory, Vista, LM remote mapping app, Acer Revo R3610 (Atom N330) Win 7, 785G (HD 4200), Win 7, 4gb ram

The usual cause I've seen for this (8 unknown capture sources and red X) is either the server name is incorrect (on the client) or a firewall issue (usually on the server). Or you forgot to set the share up on the server Smile
Can you see the server's database share from windows explorer on the client?

Also have you shared the gbpvr folder so the client has access to the main database? Once this has been done browse to the folder from the client in windows - sometimes it will ask you for a password, if so enter it and tick the box to remember it before trying gbpvr again.
If there's still a problem you could try setting the server to a static ip, and then point the client to this ip address rather than using the server name which will bypass the odd windows problem resolving computer names.

It seems i missed the sharing the database part of setting it up. Just to be clear, i must share the server's GBPVR folder which contains the database?

I dont think its a problem with resolving the name, as i can access all the other shared folders through windows using the computer name, but if i have problems, it is set to a static ip and will just use that for good measure

Thanks for the responces, i wont be able to test till Sunday, but atleast i have a better idea of what step i was missing

Thanks
