So with the Olympics going on, what does the world think? Good stuff or who cares??

The events I follow are volleyball (mens, womens), football/soccer, wrestling, boxing. Outside of the U.S., is the olympics a big national television event in your respective part of the world???

(BTW, I am still alive, just busy as....whatever)

I've found myself watching a few bits - not too much though. I've watched a bit of rowing (NZ does ok in this), gymnastics, swimming. Just whatever is on when I'm doing a bit of a channel surf...

One of our broadcasters (TVNZ) used the Olympics as start of their high def transmissions, so it was really good to see the opening cermony in all its H.264 highdef glory. It looked stunning.

I watched a lot more than I expected. With one channel playing 24x7 coverage (and posted events start/stop times in EPG) it's been great!!

Been playing with HD as well - especially since the TVNZ stuff has now added an AC3 soundtrack.

We get plenty of coverage in the UK - years ago, I used to watch the track events, but I don't bother too much now (we rarely win anything now)

We don't have a dedicated channel as such, but both BBC 'Interactive' channels (301 & 302) seem to be providing close to 24 hour coverage and there are full EPG entries for both channels - something I've never seen before.

I don't watch it as much as I used to. Like NZ, BBC HD is putting out a lot of HD stuff and the opening ceremony was stunning to watch in HD. 35Gb recording though - hellfire!

I can't watch sports extra on the PC (I just get a green screen, with audio) - if I play on the PCH, I get nice pics - but obviously no audio!
Why couldn't TVNZ add AC3 for sports extra as well!

But I do really like their EPG. Better than TV1: Olympics Coverage for 6 hours in the guide - informative when you are looking for one event.

We're seeing different digital channels. We've got a high definition channel running one set of sports, and a standard definition channel running a different set of sports.
