First - Sub, thanks for the awesome program. I've been using it for year and a half now and love it.

I know this has been covered in another thread, but I didn't like the tone of it so I thought I'd ask elsewhere. I appologize now for still being a bit of a neophyte at this...

I made the recommended updates to my bda, direct.ini, and native utillities. However, when I got to setup my tuners, and I ask it to show me tuners on the machine, it's only giving me the 2250 (analog). I also only have 1 board listed in my device manager (with my old PVR-500 I had 2). Can anyone tell me if my problem is GB-PVR or driver related?

Once I get it setup, I'm also having trouble seeing QAM channels to try to configure them...I found some of them using Hauppauge's WinTv - but I haven't figured out how to track them down in PVR - when I go channel by channel, I get blue screens past standard cable - but one problem at a time.

Thanks for any help.

For the digital side of this device you need to setup a capture source that uses the 'Digital recording plugin', then you should see the 'Hauppauge HVR-2250' option. After you setup this capture source you then need to do the 'map digital channels to epg channels' step.

Sub,

I can't find the HVR2250 in the list. I see a 2200.

When I click the option to find supported cards, it comes back with no cards found.

Is there another HVr model that would work?

I have the latet GBPVR installed - 1.2.13.

The HVR2250 is installed and working. I can use MCE to find it with no problems. Running Windows Vista 64, Ultimate.

Thanks

Do you have the following in your bda.ini file. This card was released after current GB-PVR release, so its not there by default, but there is several other posts on the forums that mention this is needed, including the link in the first post.

[Hauppauge HVR-2250]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

When you setup your capture source, did you remember to set the recording source to "Digital Recording Plugin"?

If you've done the above, then "Hauppauge HVR-2250" and "Hauppauge HVR-2250 (QAM)" will be listed as options.

I just got my HVR-2250 in this week. I updated bda.ini, direct.ini, and nativeutilities.dll. I used the version 4.7 drivers that came on the CD with the product. I'm still new to GBPVR so I'm conceptually confused. I'm trying to record QAM and analog cable.

I'm deleted all my prior capture sources. I installed a Digital recording Plugin (Main screen then calls BDA) using 2250 (QAM) completed the EPG mapping. I then installed a Analog Recording plugin (Direct Recording on the main screen). On the main screen I moved the 2250 (QAM) to the top. (Does order count on this screen?)

If I try record two shows at once it doesn't come up conflict, but the second show doesn't record. I also notice the first show goes to Analog even though their was an EPG mapping for that channel to digital.

Do I need to setup two analog and two digital devices and use the Device Number feature or Capture Device Feature? Why didn't GBPVR try to record the first recording as Digital?

Edit: I just tried deleting my Analog Recording plugin. And that did get GBPVR to record the show as digital.

When scheduling a recording it works its way down the capture source list looking for a capture source that can record the channel.

If yours doesnt seem to follow this order, ten there is a bug that some people have in their database that can cause the order to not show correctly, or update correctly when you use the buttons. To correct, use a tool like SQLiteSpy to execute the following update on your gbpvr.db3 file..

update CAPTURE_SOURCE set allocation_order=oid

There is a bug in the current release where it doesnt realise the analog and digital sides of a HVR2200/HVR2250 are the same and doesnt result in a conflict. I'll fix this for the next release.

In theory yes, but it wont help with the problem I mention above about it not being aware the analog and digital sides of the HVR2200/HVR2250 are related.

See gbpvr.db3 comment above

Sorry, new to this. Haven't built my machine yet, but have 2 of these cards on order.
Does this mean you cannot record 2 channels at the same time with this card?

That is to say if I have 2 of these in a machine, I cannot record 4 channels, just 2?

No, you can record two channels with the card. The issue is that if you are recording a digital channel on tuner 1, GBPVR still thinks that tuner is available for recording an analog channel. If you schedule 2 digital channels or two analog channels to record, it will work just fine. sub has stated that the next release is about 3 weeks out so the fix is near. In the mean time, you can set up 2 tuners for analog only and 2 for digital only (or 3/1).
