help getting hd nfl on with my hauppauge 2250

i have been trying unsuccessfully to get clear qam channels through comcast on my new hvr-2250. someone in a hauppauge forum told me to quite trying to use the junk they package with their tuners (wintv) and to use this gbpvr as a viewer for tv. i know nothing about any of this software and was hoping you might give me some basic info.

i noticed there are some downloads at the beginning of the thread that i probably am looking for, but i don't have a previous version and and i'm not sure i know anything about the .net 2.0 something or other that's mentioned.

There is lots of info on the wiki, but basically:

First install .net 2.0 or higher: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

Then install the updated microsoft runtime from http://www.gbpvr.com/vcredist_x86.zip

Next install GB-PVR. After install you need to setup a capture source for you HVR2250, then hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button to initiate a scan.

okay, i'm going to get started on this. the only part i don't get now then is 'setup a capture source'.

Try it and follow your nose.

The biggest hassle in north america is the lack of a easily accessible free EPG, but do a forum search and you'll find planty of other discussion. (schedules direct, mc2xml etc)

okay the rest worked fine but i don't know how to set the capture device. doesn't seem to want to work as i mess around with it.

p.s. when i asked it to show only cards that are detected in the machine, it said there were none. i have the new 2250 from hauppauge and i'm watching tv with it currently through their bundled software.

i need to set up a capture source and that enables me to scan for channels as best i can figure. i don't know how to do that.

i get to the screen that gives me...
- recording source
- epg source
and
-channel changer

i can't get these settings set right so that i can 'map digital channels to epg channels'.

oh, and again, when i try to select a source on the settings button for recording source, it says there isn't a card detected, but again, i'm watching tv on my 2250 while it says that.

For recording source, select the 'digital recording plugin', then hit 'settings' and select your card. This card is newer than the current GB-PVR release, so you'll need to add this to you bda.ini file:

For channel changer, leave it set to none.
