Does anyone have a good working HIP Configuration File for the Hauppauge MCE Remote? This is the PVR150 model 1062. I believe it is a 44 button remote if I counted correctly Smile

Here is the link to the remote in question:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/MCERemotes

It is the remote on the far right. I've also attached an image.

Yeah, that would be handy!

I use LM Remote Keymap and it works fine. You get function from all the keys except the four at the top (My TV, My Music, My Pictures, My Videos).

Steve, I haven't looked at this yet, but is this easier than HIP or EventGhost? Secondly, do you have the same remote that I do and would I be able to import your mapping (assuming you are willing to share)?

I find LM Remote Keymap easy to use, but I haven't given any other program an "honest" shot . . . I've read the WIKI for HIP and downloaded the files but at the time it was late at night and I just didn't want to mess with it. Later I was reading a thread on this forum and they mentioned LM Remote Keymap so I took at look at it, it was so easy I had it up and running in no time!

To answer your questions . . . YES! I have the exact same remote.

I would be willing to share my file with ya, if I knew which one it was! I'll see if I can figure out which one it is! Really though, it's not hard to setup. You choose Media Center for the type of remote and it shows a picture of a remote that's very similar to the 1062 remote. You can even click on the buttons on the remote to assign it it's keyboard command.

Check this thread I posted on using this remote:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...aking+1062

I'd still like to see a HIP configuration file too - it's always nice to have several tools in the chest "just in case"!

Take Care,

Steve

thats a hauppauge mce remote - ie it is just recognised as a standard mce remote, made by phillips. Ignore the hauppauge bit, treat it like a standard mce remote, because thats exactly how it works (i have one of each, a microsoft mce remote and a hauppauge mce remote, and can use either remote on either computer).

edit - ah, saw your other link. As said, you can quite happily add functions by using an external program. I prefer IR server suite personally.

Yes, this is the Hauppauge media center remote. However not all media center remotes are equal - even amongst original M$ remotes. If you refer to the WIKI at: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/MCERemotes you will note that the m$ mce remote version 1 circa 2004 is the only one that's fully supported within GBPVR. M$ versions 2 and 2a only have the main functions supported. The Hauppauge 1062 is listed as only having limited support within GBPVR.

Soooo, it doesn't work too well unless you use something like LM Remote Keymap, HIP, etc.!

Note . . . when using LM Remote Keymap with this remote don't program the clear button to a "KeyPress" {esc} as it'll do funky things! If you want to program it to escape then program it as a "PressKey" and then choose Escape.

Also, I can't find where the remote profiles are stored at. The ability to import profiles is a feature of the donator version of the program, so perhaps how to do that is crippled / obfuscated in the freeware version.

When I set mine up I did a couple custom things - the green Windows button is programmed to bring up the mini-guide, the recorded tv button is programmed to escape (so it's easy to exit from the guide), and the live tv button is programmed to provide the last channel recall function.

Give it a shot! I'm sure you'll come to terms with your remote! All in all I like mine, it has a nice shape that's easy to hold and it feels fairly "weighty" and sturdy.

Take care, post back how you do!

Thats not true. The MCE version 1/2/2a remotes are all equally supported. In fact, I use an MCE 2a remote, and dont use any third party software. The only common things that I know people often go looking for third party software for is that the Windows button does not start GB-PVR. Some people may wish that the remote did more, but its doing everything I wanted it to.

Then someone needs to edit the WIKI! :o

I can verify the Hauppauge 1062 does indeed only have limited functionality within GBPVR though!

Easily fixed though, and yeah - Using LM Remote Keymap you can make the Windows key launch GBPVR which is handy!

LM Remote Keymap does have it's quirks - the Esc key thing and the clear key thing, but beyond those two things it's working just fine for me and like I said, I like the feel of the 1062 remote so it was nice to get it up and running.

I dont think you're reading it the way the author intended. Its not say saying support for these remotes is limited. Its saying that all the main functions work fine with GBPVR, but if you decided you want to customise something then you can use HIP/EventGhost/Girder. This is in contrast with the v1 remote, which does not support customisation via HIP/EventGhost/Girder.

Hmmm, the V1 remote says "Directly supported by GB-PVR", the V2 and 2a say "Main buttons directly supported by GB-PVR". That says to me that ALL the buttons on the V1 are supported but that only the MAIN buttons on the V2 and 2a function - I would take that as channel up/down, volume, etc. work but minor buttons such as back, more, etc. probably wouldn't. The 1062 says limited support and that's exactly right - the channel up/down, volume up/down, etc. don't work - the arrow up/down and arrow left/right can be used to change the channels and volume though.

If I were writing it I would change the V2 and 2a notes to say that they are directly supported by GBPVR, but they could be customized by using the HIP, etc. software.

It just seems confusing to me - if it did everything the V1 did then it should have the same wording I would think, saying the "main" buttons work leads one to believe there are "minor" buttons that do not work.

Just the tech writer coming out in me . . . I used to write technical articles, instruction manuals, etc. years ago!
