How long do livetv temp files hang around? I left CNN HD on and I came back to find this

Code:
25/09/2008   9:00p  5,716,681,628  CNN Election Center_2_20080925_20002100.ts
25/09/2008  10:00p  4,169,138,196  Larry King Live_2_20080925_21002200.ts
25/09/2008  10:25p  1,849,132,844  Anderson Cooper 360_2_20080925_22000000.ts

Is this normal?

When they're created their names are written to a table in the database, so that they're not forgotten in the case of the app being killed or restarted. They periodically tries to go through this list deleting them in the order they're listed. If it cant delete a file, like the user is watching it or paused with it open, then it proceeds no further in the list.

Ok so in this case because the LIVETV_FILE table is empty those files will never get deleted by GBPVR?

Correct. It usually wouldnt delete the entires from that table unless it managed to delete the file though.

I will watch out for it. For now it looks like when I get this in the MVP log

2008-09-25 20:00:03.576 VERBOSE Doing quick file switch

The file isn't recorded in the table.

Edit: Nope wasn't that.

I seem to get quite a few of them left behind... (all??) http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=37717

Most of our live TV viewing is done directly on the TV, very little via gbpvr except for HD shows that are only available via gbpvr - and not many of those yet.

edit:- Live TV table is empty.

I did see this again last night and the problem seemed to be after livetv rollover of programs. Records do seem to go into the table but when the first ts file is removed all the entries disappear.

I just had a quick live TV view of three shows. Two were normal SD shows in mpg and one BBC HD as h264 .ts
When I finished watching, I dashed upstairs and found all three in the livetv table in the database (the .ts was listed as an mpg as well) and 5 minutes later, the entries had gone from the database and also from the live TV buffer. So there seems to be some inconsistency about it for me.
I'll try to keep en eye on it to see if there is anything common about it.

I've just had another one.
The other half started to watch BBC HD dancing program. It over-ran by a couple of minutes. At the EPG end time, the screen went blank for 10 to 20 seconds and the following EPG program was shown (the last couple of minutes of the first programme). She then stopped it.

The first requested programme was deleted from disk. The second recording is still there on disk and the database table is empty.

So it looks the t'other Martins rollover supposition may be valid.
