just wondering if anyone was using the Logitech Harmony One remote with gbpvr? i had the old xbox logitech remote (it had a,b,x,y on the colour buttons) and i didn't like the feel of those buttons (very clicky, and not pushy (errr soft like the MCE remotes)).

the harmony one doesn't have any colour buttons, is this annoying with gbpvr? or does it easily have enough buttons to work with all the functions of gbpvr? (like blue for the osd, red/green/yelllow for some plugins etc)

TIA

I use the harmony one with gbpvr and it works very well. As far as missing the r,y,b and g button I guess it depends on the plugin. I have never used any plugins that relied heavily on those buttons because none of my remotes have ever had them. Most of the functions you can learn to buttons that make more since, at least to me, instead of the colored buttons.(ex. the info button instead of blue for program description, or the guide button instead of green.) I did add the color buttons to the touch screen (same mappings as regular buttons) just in case I need them for anything but I do not recall ever really using them.

i got a harmony 525 the other day
only $99 compared to $299 for the harmony 1
seems to do everything i need
you dont get a colour touch screen
i couldnt justify the extra $200 for the touch screen
the buttons are a bit clicky though so you still may not like it (left, right,up and down) but the other buttons are ok
but as for programing etc its pretty cool
i imagine the harmony 1 would be even better as far as the look and been able to name the buttons go

what are the buttons like on the harmony one? i plan on going to the store today to have a better look, but they'll probably be in a plastic case so wont have a proper play with it. just want the buttons to be soft and easy to push (yeah i know it sounds weird, but if you ever tried the old logitech remotes, they're not comfortable and just feel weird)

They're hard plastic, not clicky. V happy with mine which I've had for a few months now. Find the missing r,g,b,y buttons a bit annoying though - find they're used for quite a lot of stuff both in GB-PVR and for UK TV in general.

thanks guys, i went and got the remote today (i have impulse control issues). buttons feel a lot better than the older logitech harmony remotes, hopefully i can control everything i need to without the colour buttons (if not ill just write a plugin that works without them Tongue)

ill post later about my experiences with the remote (incase someone wants to know in the future)

i dont think you miss the colour buttons that much as you can program them to be on the touch screen if you need to

Ok so who can help me program my Harmony One? I have had it for about 8 months or so now. Used to work perfect when I was using Vista Media Center.

I made the switch to GB-PVR and I have never been able to get it to work correctly. I can navigate and start a movie but that's it. The "back" button doesn't work, stop and pause don't work, etc.

What plugins do I need? Or what profile? What did you tell the logitech software you were trying to control when you setup the remote?

I was last trying to get help on here about 6 months but at that time a lot of people weren't using Vista and no number of plugins and random applications could get it working correctly.

Any help would be much appreciated as it's annoying to always have to use the mouse to stop or pause a video.

Thanks!

I guess it depends on your setup. I am using it with an MCE ir receiver so for the most part I have it simulate that. I am using IR Server Suite instead of GBPVR built in support which allows for more flexibility. You can map remote keys to keyboard commands or to run other programs/batch files to accomplish just about anything you want.

I also have an MCE ir receiver, I should have said that.

IR Server Suite is a new name to me and not one of the 10 other programs I have tried so far. Lol. Is the setup pretty simple to integrate it with GBPVR? Any links you can give me? I'll look in to it. Thanks.

Edit: Well i found this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=33633 . The OP said he only tried it on XP but reading through the 6 pages of stuff I found 3 people that their HTPC's had Vista on them according to their signature. So I'll give it a try!
