Ok I'm having a very irritating channel problem, the cable provider around here keeps changing channels around so I have to keep (trying) to change my channel lineups. It got too screwed up (and still is) so I decided to dump my recording sources and just re-do them. Now I have a couple of problems.

In the channels tab in config, there are still channels listed that have since been removed/changed, clicking the "remove unreferenced" does nothing to get rid of them, and they are still listed in the TV guide, even though the channels are no longer listed for each recording device in its properties.

Next problem is as I've said in the title, when I dumped the recording sources to try to fix this issue, I lost my reccuring/season recordings. I figure no big deal I'll just put them back. Unfortunately, that's not working  I can do "record once" and it'll light up red as it's supposed to, but season record does nothing. It puts it in the season record list, but does not put anything in the pending recordings list.

I'm not sure what logs you need (if any) ... let me know and I'll post them.

Oh and this is v1.2.13.

Thanks.

If you've had channel lineup changes, and multiple attempts at fixing it up, you might be best to try from a clean database. ie, take a backup of your gbpvr.db3 and recordings-dump.xml files, delete your gbpvr.db3 file, start the config app, and recreate your capture sources, update the epg, then import the backup of recordings-dump.xml.

After this, if you still have the problem creating season recordings, then we'll take a closer look and work out why.

Just saw your post about the new 1.3x version, installed that, season recording problem now gone. I know it's probably unrelated, but maybe something was messed up in my installation that the 1.3x version fixed. Smile

Channel problem still exists. So let me get this straight, I should backup the db3 file and the recordings-dump.xml file, blow away/re-create the capture sources (again) update the epg, then import the recordings dump xml file, but not the db3 file, right? My "old" recordings will still be there?

Yes, but when I say 'import recordings' I mean using the button in the config app, not copying the file back in to the directory.

Yep - thats what the 'import recordings' step is for.

Does the list of channels on the Channels tab in Config include the names that channels had when recordings that are still in the database had at the time of the recording?

For example, I record some shows on a channel names ABCD. The channel changes to WXYZ. ABCD will still be in the list until I delete all of the shows that I recorded when the channel was called ABCD.

Gotcha (and in case anyone's wondering, import recordings is on the plugins tab).

And I think I missed a step or two, backup the db3/xml file, blow away the capture sources, stop the recording service, blow away (or rename) the db3 file/xml file that you backup elsewhere, then go from there with the rest of the steps.

Looks like things are FINALLY cleaned up with these channels, wow they were a mess, plenty of "(no program information)" listings, I can't begin to tell you how irritating that was getting with the cable company constantly shuffling their lineups around. Looks like it's sorted now, just gotta put back all my season recordings.

One minor thing I noticed during these changes, when you go to "update" a recording, there's no option to change it from "record once" to "record season" ... not sure if that's by design or maybe if it can be added in a future version?

Either way, thanks for all the help on this!

Thats by design. 'Import recordings' should have recreated your season recordings too though.

Well, it didn't, but that's no big deal, my greater concern was fixing the damn channels. I'm pretty sure I've gotten all my season recordings set back up now.
