I can't use any function that utlizes the OSD while watching LiveTV, such as pressing F11, increasing the volume, or moving the mouse, or I get stuttering/jerky playback until it dissappears. Basically, I noticed my CPU spikes into the 90-100% when OSD is showing. Perhaps my low end PC can't handle 1.3.7, but it seems to me the IQ is richer than previous version and I'm hesitant to switch back to 1.2.13. Anyone have a fix or is this by design?

Edit: I should mention that the sound deosn't stutter.

Same here, hitting F11 on the Live TV causes the CPU to spike about 40% higher than it was previously, thus pegging the CPU at 100%, I had not seen this in 1.2.13 or 1.2.09.

Did you recently switch to the Enhanced Video Renderer? It's always done that for me when using EVR and I don't exactly have a slow machine (Phenom x4 9550). I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the EVR and not GBPVR itself.

Nope, I've been using EVR since I switched over from MediaPortal many months back and for the most part OSD has been silky smooth on my end. I have my OS and GBPVR v1.2.13 backed up to a hard drive image and I've actually restored the image 3 times trying to decide which version (new or old) I want to keep. I chose the new version, even though every time I change the channel I have to wait a few seconds for the jerkiness to stop.

I've got this problem too - I'm running decent CPU etc (see sig below for specs) and during playback by CPU sits at 8% or less but when I bring up any OSD (including the volume bar) my CPU also spikes and I get jittery playback.

BUT

If I switch from EVR to VMR Custom I get higher CPU usage normally (around 40%) but I don't get the spikes with OSD!

AND

I have a lower spec pc (its an Athlon 64 3400) with a lowerspec video card (Its an 8600GT as well but its a half hight and only has 256mb Ram) and yet I can bring up OSD without the bad jitters - it seems to slow a little bit with OSD but its barely noticeable.

I'm using the Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 decoder for H264 with the built in TS Reader and Monogram AAC Decoder on both PC's.

This is a bit of a pain but its the least anoying problem I have at present as by setting minimal OSD its mainly during volume changes but it'd be nice to get to the bottom of it!

In 1.3.7 the EVR overlay resolution is now the same as your desktop, to give the best text quality possible. Previously it was at half the desktop resolution, which consumed less CPU, but had poorer text quality. For whatever reason, it sounds like your machine is struggling to cope when the full resolution is used.

Try setting <LimitOSDFrameBufferSize>true</LimitOSDFrameBufferSize> in config.xml.
