With the PCH/NMT, when I play a DVD, I still get a black border, even though my tv is 16:9, as is the movie.

What am I doing wrong? (I nocticed another movie, which did seem to fill the screen faitly nicely) should I remux my films to 720p sizes (1280*720)?

I'm using hauppauge 500/250/350 TV cards connected to cable. I guess they give me default 720*576 (4:3) sizes. What is the best method to use all my TV's screen-real-estate?

If your TV is a CRT and you're playing a DVD as ISO or from VIDEO_TS, there's not much you can do. That's a bug that still needs to be solved by Syabas. For other files you can use the PCH to scale the picture using the zoom button.

Have you setup your monitor in the PCH Setup->Audio/Video screen?

I am having a similar issue.

My TV is a Panasonic Veira 32" set to 16:9.
My PCH is set to 16:9 and "Fit Screen Size".
NMTInstall was set to 720p which sets config.xml to 1280x720.

But the GBPVR menu spills out over the visible TV area, i.e. the text/screen is truncated to Left and right, Top and bottom. How do I get the menu to fit? (The shows seem to fi ok...)

Should I just "force" a fit using the aspect ratio button on my TV? I would have thought the settings above would have made it all compatible?

What do you have your PCH Video set to on the PC setup screen? Also did you modify startme up from the installer?

I'm not sure what you mean by the "PC Setup Screen" but chose 720p as recommended by the NMT installer. I didn't modify the startmeup, I thought the installer would take care of it? I have HDMI, should I remove the # before "#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 &" ( or should I add "/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 --frequency 60 &" (see below))

• I have set the PCH to 720 @ 60Hz, fit to screen, 16:9 aspect.
  
• The TV is set to 16:9, so they should match?

Sorry I meant PCH setup screen since startmeup by default uses your setting on the PCH. If you have it 720p @ 60 as the Video Type the installer is ok.

Note I believe this thread is about the dvd bug on the NMT that is apparently fixed in the current beta.
