I have an odd issue with an NMT when playing live TV, the program will start perfectly happily and then after a random amount of time (anything from a few seconds to many minutes) the program will start playing from the beginning again. It seems to do this more after the software has been running for a few hours. Recordings seem to be fine.

I'm now running 1.3.7 of GBPVR, but I think it did it sometimes in the prevoius version. I can't tell if this happens on the server as it's stuck in the loft and I dont use it to watch TV. I've looked at the logs at the time that the glitch has occurred and they dont seem to have anything added at that specific time.

Has anyone else seen this? Or can anyone suggest what I can try to debug it?

thanks.

Martyn.

I will assume that you are playing TS Mux'd files If the timeline in the TS stream is bad then you will see this behaviour. It's possible that the Oct. firmware for the PCH is worse based on a few comments http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38696 It is hard to fault the PCH when I see user comments here that they see strange timeline behaviour on their PC's too ie http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38702

I don't think GBPVR users push hard enough on the NMT forums to get this looked at. The next time it happens if you can copy the temporary file that is created to another file come back for some more info and I will try and get it to Syabas.

Thanks for the quick response Martin.

I'm not sure what constitutes a ts mux'd file. I am actually using the cyberlink mux, but am happy to try other options if you think it might help.

BTW, I've seen how much you put into this and mvpmc for myth. I already donated to this project, but is there is a seperate donation option for NMT/MVP? It's providing huge value to me and it's nice to repay that directly somehow. I'd offer to buy you a beer, but the travel costs are prohibitive!

Ok, Cyberlink muxed file quality is related to version of Cyberlink you are running so I would recommend trying the TS Mux and seeing if this helps or makes things worse.

Donating to mvpmc.org is fine, it doesn't matter which client you use, the costs go to the same web hosting service that we share for development. Jon and I hope to do some interesting thing on the NMT over the next few months.

Ok, I switched to the TS-MUX and the good news is I haven't seen a program restart yet! I will continue to test for the next day or 2. The bad news is that it has stopped my MVP's working.

I've been browsing the threads, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer about MVP's with the TS Mux.

Can you recommend what settings should work given that my system specs are as follows.

GBPVR Server P4 3GHz, 1G RAM, 3xHauppauge WinTV Nova-T, 1xTechnotrend S2-3200 DVB-S, WinXPSP3, GBPVR 1.3.7. Installed in comms cab in loft.
1 x PCH A110
2 x PCH B110
4 x MVP (H4)
GBit network

I also have
MythTV Server P4 3GHz, 1G RAM, 2xHauppauge WinTV Nova-T, Fedora 8. - In loft as backup for WAF when the GBPVR server glitches (I have mounted it on GBPVR as a video library).
A pair of Via EPIA EN15000's that used to be Minimyth clients. I would dearly love to run these as client GBPVR pc's , but cant get them to run without crashing as soon as GBPVR starts up.

As you can see, I have quite a lot of equipment invested in this. I moved from Myth because of the lack of support for HD cards. GBPVR is much nicer in many ways, but ATM is percieved by her indoors as a step to far! ("can't we have the old one back - I only just got used to that").

I'd be grateful for any suggestions to get this working reliably. I've attached my config.xml just in case it helps.

Have you tried with mvpmc using the native mvpmc ts mux?

Yes, at least I think I have.

I'm using dongle.mvpmc-20080930.bin with the following settings in my config.xml

<MAC-000dfe237278>
<MVPWidth>640</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>500</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>40</MVPOffsetY>
<MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>true</MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>
<MVPTranscodeTS>false</MVPTranscodeTS>
<MVPTranscodeAVI>false</MVPTranscodeAVI>
<MVPTranscodeWMV>false</MVPTranscodeWMV>
<MVPTranscodeMKV>false</MVPTranscodeMKV>
</MAC-000dfe237278>

When I try to play live tv, after a few seconds I get a black screen with the program description, followed by just a black screen, then it returns to the menu.

I've attached the recorder log, which shows the recording request. A 7 meg .ts file is created.

I have to confess, I am still confused about playing .ts files from a dvb-t stream on the MVP. I thought it could only be done with inline conversion, but the line in the config.xml seems to suggest otherwise.

Is there somewhere I can look on the mvp to see what it is recieving/baulking at?

mvpmc has supported SD ts files from myth and in the filesystem for a long time. I would like to see your mvp logs to see what is going on. One thing that I seem to remember is GBPVR wants to see the MVP MAC address in UPPER case.

Upper case it was - the ts files play now. Thanks Martin you are a star.

Is there a definative list of what can be included in the MAC-??? section? I notice that some examples are included with a note not to use yet! The svideo and 16:9 ones in particular would be helpful.
