Hi, as a newby my ignorence has got the better of me, I'm sure there must be a simple fix for my problem, which is... LiveTV will not work on my MVP.

All other features work fine on the MVP and LiveTV functions on the PC.
LiveTV buffer directory has been created and the ts file appears when I attempt to view LiveTV on the MVP. FFMPEG also starts the conversion to a mpg file, meanwhile the MVP is showing a blank screen, then returns to the main menu after about 10 seconds.

BDA multiplexer is set to CyberLink as suggested in other posts.

The PC system is Quad proc Windows XP with a HVR-4000 card using Terrestrial-freeview as source. All freshly installed this week.

Logs attached.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

BTW. gbpvr rocks!

That's an mpeg4, aac latm source stream. I don't expect it would ever play live to an MVP, and it certainly won't work with the ffmpeg line you have.

Thanks for that Martin, most of what you said is 'over my head' but i get the gist. Can tell me how to change the source stream to one that's compatible with ffmpeg and the MVP?
cheers
Paul.

Sorry, you probably need to find someone else in NZ who can help you there, it's quite possible that there isn't a valid alternative.

i dont have mvp but i would say your only option is to use the dvb-s part of the card
as when youselect the cyberlink mux you then get a mpeg file

if you use the dvb-t it is a different type of file (h264video ,aac audio)that cant be transcoded by ffmpeg(my understanding)

So is it the Terrestrial Freeview source stream comming via the HVR-4000 that is the problem ? and if that is the case, if I changed to either the satellite or analogue feed would the source stream then be compatible with ffmpeg/MVP ?

cheers Paul.

you cant use the analog part of the hvr4000 it doesnt have the required hardware mpeg encoder

but yes the satellite part is the way to go

Thank you for your posts. The verdict is that dvb-T (terrestrial digital) sourced LiveTV to the MVP did not work but switching to dvb-S (satellite) allowed LiveTV to work on the MVP!

If anyone manages to find a way of sending dvb-T to the MVP please post instructions.

cheers
Paul.
