I've noticed that whenever I record a digital channel, it records 1 small file and then the 'regular' file. The small file is ALWAYS 6kb in size. This happens whether it's a scheduled recording or an on the fly recording. Maybe this has been covered before but I don't recall.

Are you using Comskip? When I used Comskip it would produce a few files if I remember correctly. By "digital" do you mean HD? Entertainment Tonight? (I know, it's for the wifeBig Grin)

Not using comskip unless the beta of MCEBuddy I'm playing with added it. I'll have to look further into this.
And, I honestly must say that neither of us watch ET....pure garbage! It was on after the local news and I had the channel on and wanted to try a manual recording to see if that would trigger it......I swear. Big Grin I like comedy and scifi and think the Hollywood elite get too much attention as it is.

Ahhhh Dude, I was just yanking your chain about ET. I had a girlfriend once that watched that show (Had is the operative word)
What file extension are these files? If you delete it does the show still play? I heard some buzz about Dancing With the Stars.......you might want to add that to your recording schedule.

I definitely felt the yanking and will gladly admit that I sometimes watch Rachel Ray.
These are drv-ms files and yes, when I delete the 6kb file, the other file plays perfectly fine, except that it's ET. Big Grin And, I don't dance. Well, it's sort of a cross between a washing machine on high and an epileptic seizure.

Dude, I'm really sorry. You know when you go to read a forum post and some dumb-ass jumps in and seems to take the post in some bizarre direction that had nothing to do with the original post and offers NO help to the poor person in need that posted it in the first place? Or the person that reads it in hopes of getting their own help? It appears I'm a dumb-ass. Smile

Been there, done that too. Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you kept me occupied.

This is where some other Dumb ass comes in and hijacks it from the hijacker rendering the original poster in utter dismay.

The small file usually happens if GBPVR doesn't detect a locked signal after a certain period of time. Can you post your recording service logs when it happens?

I had similar "weirdness" when recording an OTA/ATSC program tonight. I did an initial manual test recording (for about 5 minutes) that appeared to work fine (I could play back the file), but then scheduled another manual recording from 7PM to 8:10PM on the same channel. I ended up with two 6KB files (both with dvr-ms extensions) and NO ACTUAL VIDEO (which didn't make the wife very happy...).

Recording log is attached for the curious... You'll see the initial test recording (which worked) and then the second/third attempts (not sure why there were two when only one 70-minute recording was scheduled).
