I have 2 Compro S350 DVB-s cards, I now have to scan files Scan-1, and Scan-2.

I assume they are for the corresponding cards, could somebody just confirm though.

thanks

Yep, you'll have a scan file associated for each capture source you setup in config.

And more confusingly if you remove cards, they keep their number and new ones get tagged on the end.
I think it is their OID in the database. I'm up to SCAN.8.cache now. Big Grin

I recommend you keep a backup copy of each cache file. If you delete it, config will rescan when you enter the mapping screen. Sometimes you want this. Other times it's a pain. You can refer to your old cache files and compare with new ones to see if a new scan is missing some channels.

They go in my daily backup routine. I did have problems early on where I could only scan if the cache file was deleted.

Currently I can't scan using my tuner card, so have to scan with some other software and do a conversion.

Is there a way of reverting to a rational number of scan cache files? Each time I remove/add a tuner (which I've had to do a lot recently to diagnose what I now suspect to be a hardware problem), the device number increments, and I'm now up to scan cache 12 - with only four tuners in the machine...

The scan cache number is the oid of the source in gbpvr.db3. It's used in at least four critical tables that I know of: the source table, the BDA table, the source_channel_mapping table, recording_schedule and probably others I've forgotten. Although you could change all of them with effort, I wouldn't suggest it.

It'd be easier to just export your recordings, use the empty gbpvr.db3, then set up the sources again and reimport.

Thanks dennit. I guess that's more hassle than it's worth - after all, it doesn't affect the operation of the PVR just the in-depth admin.
