When I ran out of disk space, I switched to dynamic disks, unaware that this creates a backup problem. My backup program, Acronis, which is so handy for creating images of the system partition, won't have anything to do with a dynamic disk.

It would be handy to have multiple recording directories, handled internally by GB-PVR, so that storage expansion could be easily accomplished without dynamic disks.

it's easy when you run out of space...just change rec dir! all old movies can stay where they were, and it'll use new space to record to..Big Grin
or you can use my Super Simple Archiver to copy shows to another drive individually..
[just a batch file that copies show and adjusts db]

Your suggestion is good, but I want optimum. I want to be able to manage all the recordings from one location in a seamless manner, ie., use the PVRX2 interface.

Anyway, it's too late for me. Dynamic disks cannot be undone. It would be necessary to do a clean install of XP. It really was a shock when I found I could no longer make a backup image of the OS partition.

it is seamless...all recordings still appear in gbpvr interface as if nothing's happened..Smile
that's the beauty of it...Big Grin
once my 500g filled up, i just changed rec dir, and old recs don't move, and *all* recordings show up in interface like normal...
when i eventually fill up new drive, the old one should be nearly empty, so change it back, or just buy new disk and change dir again...all recordings still show in interface even tho they're on 3 drives..no changes apparent to user..Smile

but true, can't undo dynamic disks...but some progs can back them up...acronis i believe..
and one note: never make boot OS disk dynamic..doesn't gain you anything and as you saw, is very limited...data drive is much easier...but still not recommended...
