Not a major but an idea that may make viewing slideshows more interesting.
In the past I have used XBMC for viewing photos on my TV. One of the nice things that XBMC did was instead of just running through the images, during a slideshow it would apply very subtle pan and zoom effects to the images. These effects made viewing the slideshow much more interesting than looking at the static pictures.
