I've been trying to get the theater plugin working, but the documentation is sketchy and I need some help with it.

- In what directory does GetTheaterList.exe file go?
- Does that app create the theater.xml file the plugin is looking for?

Thanks!

you have to run it from a command prompt with the zip code following directly after: c:\GetTheaterList.exe 77840

Depending upon the size of your town you might get results, you might not. If you manage to get results then it will create the .xml file that you need. I can't remember what website it is pulling the information from at the moment. It is perplexing because I was able to pull showtimes for theaters in Houston, TX but my zip code returned no results even though the website it pulls the showtimes from had my theater listed.

I would like to see this plugin modified to include the capability of playing movie trailers as well. Someone did that with the Beyond Media program and I liked that feature...just not Beyond Media itself.

I wrote the original theater as a proof of concept.  SeniorChuck was working on expanding it but got busy, he is still planning on finishing the enhancement.

I have not had time to work on it with my other plugins.

Movie trailers and reviews would be cool.  The problem with trailers is where do you find them for download.  We were looking for a RSS feed that would have the urls for the trailers.  If you find one let us know.

There were two gettheater listings one by senior chuck and the original. Search by member for chuck and look at the posts.

Thanks for the info... I'll add that to my notes for the plugin in case I run into this again.

Jorm - Thanks for replying, too. I'll check for the other plugin thread to see if there's any progress.

he has not posted anything in some time. I talked to him around christmas asking for all of the files and his status so when it is picked up again we can go from there.

He said he has been busy but still plans on finishing it. If he does not post or email me in a month or so I will probably start playing with it myself again.

Jorm and others:

I use the attached set of Perl scripts that I run on Sunday mornings at 2am to get movie trailers down from Apple's site. I can't remember exactly where I got this, but it works. I use ActiveState perl to run the scripts.

King Argyle,

That sounds cool. I just send another message to senior chuck asking for the latest code base so I can start playing with it.

The perl script downloads the trailers as mov files?
If so I will start looking for a command line to convert to mpeg2.

Yeah, it downloads as MOV files. They are all in Apple Quicktime format.

You might be able to use TMPGEnc to do the conversion. Here is a link to a plugin that will allow it to read MOV files.

I was just trying to get the Theater Listings plugin running, and I'm running into a wierd issue. The app is returning that my area code is invalid, but when I go to Fandango.com directly & do a search on the same area code, I'm getting one theater. (I looked at the source & that's where it looks like it's pulling the info from.) I'm using the same settings I found in the source code (15 mile radius) & I'm getting the same URL that's used in the source with the entered zip (http://www.fandango.com/my_box_office.as...yZip=55901). Any thoughts? Thanks!
