Just got the PH but it's still in the box until I have time to set it up so I'll go ahead and start the first of many stupid questions. Can you use both the GBPVR interface and the native PH interface? Not at the same time of course but switch back and forth easily?
I ask because one might be easier for the boss to use (and mess up) as well as anyone else who may touch my toys when I'm not around.

Yes - in my case, an old installation, it is just a matter of pressing the red 'off' button on the remote to drop back to the native interface.

Hint: install it and have a play before reading all the docs. It makes a lot more sense when you have one running than trying to imagine in your head what is going on and/or intended.

I never read instructions! Isn't that the way everyone does things?
Thanks for the info. You know I'll be back shortly.

Sweet! Haven't worked on the GBPVR side just yet but just hooked it up and it's been extremely easy. Doing a firmware update now.
The wife already wants to know how to use it (the dvd player just died) and I showed her to use the computer to view the dvd on the main tv. I almost goofed when I told her I bought an anniversary present for 'us' and quickly changed it to 'me'. Woof, now I gotta do something extra special. Big Grin

Has anyone heard anything at all about getting the new Vista TVPack .wtv file working with this device? I'm not even sure if MS extenders would work but was curious if there was a way for this to play.

OK, just a few questions for now so as to not show more of my ignorance than necessary. I was able to connect GBPVR via network browser but after turning off the unit to reboot my system and turning it back on, I can no longer get in with this option and have to use just the first option....GBPVR.

While in GBPVR, none of my videos play. They play fine with the PH menu (well, except for one .mkv file).

Finally, should I be able to view live TV thru GBPVR? If so, I can't.

Thanks but do expect more later.

The network browser doesn't get saved, that is why option #1 is preferred (by me), you do have to set the mvpmc source if you play from other shares.

Upload your logs and I will tell you what is wrong with the web server setup.

Got the GBPVR via browser to work again. Still nothing plays from that interface....no video, no music. Plays just fine with the default programs.
Logs enclosed....thanks.

Do you have the recording service configured to interact with the desktop? It is not starting and it serves media

Code:
2008-12-16 19:52:26.714    ERROR    [4]    Error starting webserver: Could not load file or assembly 'GBPVRRecordingService, Version=1.0.3228.14980, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

This happens to quite a few people. I'm not really sure why, but try going into Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Service, then view the properties of the GBPVR Recording Service and set it to 'allow the service to interact with desktop'
