Recently got an HVR-2250. I noticed that with this card, I cannot several channels that I am able to get with my set top box. I'm missing 3 channels (6 subchannels total). This is for OTA ASTC.
I've tried the channel detection in WinTV and also Media Portal and it's pretty consistent....
Any suggestions? My outdoor antenna has a signal amplifier...can I get a better one or something? Or is there some setting somewhere I can play with?

Thanks.

As an example, one channel is > 80% signal strength and 100% signal quality on my set top box, but isn't picked up at all on the HVR-2250.
It's channel 2.1 on my set top box.

Can't speak to the strength of the tuner but zip and post your scan logs.

Scanned twice and logs attached. I noticed it sometimes has a negative signal strength. Is that right?

I also get a crash/error message when trying to map channels:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Ignore the negative signal strength. Each manufacturer has their own scale for reporting this.

Can you PM me your zip code so I can get a list of the channels you are supposed to be receiving?

Edit: NM, I found your market.

It's not finding a signal for the channel you mentioned. Remember that the 2250 has an internal splitter so that may be degrading the signal just enough. If you have any other splitters on the line, try removing them.

I'm not very pleased with mine. Still haven't been able to get QAM with it and GBPVR and the analog side is not anywhere near as good as my PVR500. More than 50% of my analog recordings have failed with nothing but light blue screens. Back to back or side by side recordings ALWAYS have one that fails and sometimes 2. I have been using the pre-release drivers so that might be part of the problem but Hauppauge has always been slow to get drivers released quick enough.
About the only good thing I can say is it worked rather well with OTA in the short time I was trying it out.

I noticed there are new, pre-release drivers just posted at the WinTVPVR site
http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=11862.0

SHS says 'This has a big improvements with ATSC/QAM channel scanning"

I had already removed all the splitters earlier today and dragged my set top box up beside my PC to make sure it wasn't the cable up to the office. The cable I'm using goes straight to the amp which then goes to the antenna. The set top box picks up the same channels on this cable as it did in its original location. In fact, it even picked up the channels when there was splitter in place!

I guess there is nothing else I can try?

Does the Hauppauge WinTV software find the channel?
