Hi,

Till now I had no external settop box and my connection was co-axial cable coming in connected to my pc using ATI TV WONDER 650. I used the schedules direct and everything was fine and danddy. I could change the channels using my PC keyboard.

I have since got a settop box and my cable coming in is connected to my settop box and the output from the settop box is connected to the TV tuner in my PC.

I used the ATI catalyst software and set my TV to channel 3 and used my cable remote to change channels in my settop box - The channels showed correctly in my PC. I am however not able to control my settop box WITHOUT the settop box remote!

How do I setup my GBPVR so that I can use just my PC keyboard instead of the settop remote. The TV Guide does show the schedulesdirect channels but when I select any channel I see a black screen.

You need to add an IR Blaster to your setup. GB-PVR then tells the IR Blaster to send a channel number to your set top box by faking its remote control settings.

Sub,

Thanks for your quick reply as always.

I connected the USB remote that came along with the Card.

Channel changer in config.exe changed to USB-UIRT plugin and device profile to "Dish network receiver.dat" - FYI I use the dish network settop box.

I could use the remote in my TV GUIDE to go up and down but when I select a channel in my TV GUIDE using my remote I get blank screen.

Is my CHANNEL CHANGER settup correct? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thx

Do you have a USB-UIRT? It is a specific product that you'd have to have bought, not some generic name for USB ir receivers, like that you might have got with your capture card. See http://www.usbuirt.com/.

A USB-UIRT could be used to control your set top box.

Some card come with a MCE IR Receiver/Blaster unit, which could also be used.

The channel changer you must select depends on which IR Blaster you've got (USB-UIRT, MCE, Hauppauge etc). Sounds like you dont have one at this stage, so will need to set it to 'none' until you get one.

Yes I do.....

The ATI card comes with a USB dongle with IR receiver AND a remote.

I am able to use the remote to navigate (up, down et all) in the TV GUIDE but when I select the channel (pressing OK on the remote) I see nothing.

I see all the channels using ATI CATALYST SOFTWARE - The way I did this is to set the ATI CATALYST SOFTWARE to channel 3 and then used my settop box remote to navigate thru my channels - I am hence positive that the settop box works!

think about what need to happen and how each device works
you have a remote that came with your tuner card(ati...)it tells the tuner card to change channels or the computer to move the pointer etc
you also have set top box with a remote that changes the channels

you now need something to link them together and thats where the ir blaster or usb-uirt link in previous post from sub

its not a remote its a thing that connects to your computer and when told it sends a infra red signal to the set top box which changes the channel
