Hey Guys,

Trying to add this new model ((Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick (801e))) into:
Analog TVcard INI file = Direct.INI
Digital TVcard INI file = BDA.INI

This is not the 801e SE model. It's a better one.

Attached is the FilterCheck.log file.

Please advise if this is possible to add and use these. Otherwise, let me know whick USB Tuner device works and will support captions.

Thanks.

It is already in the bda.ini as [Pinnacle HD Stick Pro] and [Pinnacle HD Stick Pro (QAM)]

The analog side of this device will not work with GBPVR because it does not have the necessary hardware MPEG encoder.

I can't get any channels to play when I set it up. Please advise. Do I have to have an analog capture device setup or can I just use the digital one it recogonizes?

You don't need an analog capture device. Zip and post the config.exe.log and the config.exe-native.log files after scanning for channels. Also, are you using it with cable or with an antenna?

Some of the Hauppauge USB devices will work if you have SoftPVR (I think that's the name) installed. There is a thread in the Support forum regarding the setup but I don't have the exact link.

When I set it up as digital and map channels, it does not find any. Here are the log files you requested.

I am connecting the USB device directly to the cable source and then to the computer. I don't use any cable box or anything to watch regular TV. I get about 78 channels and then some additional channels in HD like 101.1 etc.

Am I doing something wrong?

Buying a new one, the Hauppauge HVR-1950 is a good choice for an external device. It has the hardware encoder, so analog would also be compatible with GB-PVR.

You've chosen an ATSC capture device in the list, so its expecting an antenna to be connected to the device. From what you've said above, it sounds like you've got cable connected instead.

If you want to scan for Clear QAM channels (unencrypted digital cable channels), then you capture source would need to have the 'Pinnacle HD Stick Pro (QAM)' option selected instead.

Those 78 channels are most likely analog cable channels, which wont be available to you in GB-PVR due to the lack of hardware MPEG2 decoder on your device. You should get the addition 101.1 etc channels, which will be the Clear QAM channels.

OK. If I scan for the QAM channels, can I map those channels to the Channel # they would correspond to under ny Analog Channel list? Ex: if TBS is usually Channel 42, but since I don't have an analog decoder, can I map the QAM TBS HD to channel 42....etc? Most all of my cable channels also appear in the QAM Channels..?

Thanks for all the help.

You can map them to whatever you want. (even some entirely wrong channel with incorrect listings)

You'd be very lucky if they mostly available as Clear QAM. Most people only get their few local channels.
