I have seup with a Hauppagge HVR4000 with both DVB-T and DVB-S feeds. It all works fine if I change channel through the top level program guide that displays full screen. However, channel changing with pg-up/pg-down, the mini-gude or the full guide (showing only at the foot of the screen), it often fails with "no signal".

Some scenarios are reproducible. E.g. using DVB-T only and can reliably Pg-up form BBC1 to BBC2, but a second Pg-up to ITV1 always fails.

On an unrelated topic, is there any easy way to re-order the buttons after clicking OK on the Program Guide to make <Watch> the default action on a second OK key?

Reproduce this problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

From startup this shows full guide, OK to select BBC1, pg-up to BBC2 (works) and pg-up to ITV1 (fails).

Logs were captured using live mode. Buffered mode includes logs "Waited ten seconds, and file size is still zero!!!". Similar symptoms except there is no signal strength popup and the screen eventually times out.

If you disable the multi-record feature, does the problem go away?

The symptoms are identical with multi-record disabled.

In fact the problem was in 10213, which didn't have multi-record. I upgraded in the hope of a fix! I'm trying to make it friendly for the rest of the family to use, but am pretty much dead with channel up/down unreliable. Any help would be much appreciated.

In case it helps, in one early setup (sorry can't remember the details as I've been playing with numerous settings to get GBPVR as I want it) I recall seeing crashes when channel changing. I therefore suspect an out-of-bounds pointer dereference, but the evidence is circumstantial.

Just prior to making the first post in this thread I checked the Hauppaugge drivers and all were up to date.

A few more observations:

- I restarted from an empty config.db and added only a single DVB-T source for the HVR4000. (I wondered if 2 capture sources from one card was confusing things.) No change.
- I tried all TS Mux options. No change.
- Contrary to my earlier post, I occasionally see the same failure (no signal popup) when selecting channels from the top level EPG. Somtimes these clear themselves after a second. Sometimes they persist.
- There are patterns of reproducibility. Starting with ITV from the top level EPG, ITV1 (works), pg-up to Channel4 (works), pg-up to Five (fails).

I've figured it out.

In order to work round the bug whereby GBPVR fails to scan the first channel, I was selecting "All Channels" when setting up the DVB-T capture source. This has slightly different frequencies from those for my local Crystal Palace transmitter. If I switch back to using Crystal palace, channel up/down and channel selection from the mini-guide works fine. I guess the reception was marginal with incorrect frequencies.

So I have now modified the BDA\DVB-T\0126 file (the one specifying frequencies to scan for Crystal Palace) to include a dummy entry at the start. GBPVR now finds all channels and is working fine.

Yep, I'm sure you're correct on this diagnosis of the problem.
