When I try to Scan for channels using the 'Edit Recording Source' Dialog, I press the 'Map digital channels to EPG (I am referring this to as 'Scanning'), the program always freezes. I start the scan and it seems to be working for a few minutes before it reaches '4 of 6' sources and then seems to completely lock.

Info:

Hardware: WinTV Nova T 500
Location: Scotland, Fife
Transmitter: Craigkelly
Chosen Device (Seems to default to this one even after I change it): Hauppauge Win TV MOD7700 DVB-T #1
EPG Source: DVB EPG Broadcast
No channel Changer.

I have tried changing the Device to others in the 'Detected' List but it seems to reset back to this device, so I am assuming this is the correct one (I've tried scanning with other options, and they don't even detect a channel).

I've tried looking at the Wiki but I cannot seem to find any information on this problem or even a step by step guide for setting up the tuner correctly.

Also I have no problems watching TV using the WinTV program, just in case anyone thinks that this is the problem.

Can anyone help?

On the dialog box where you select the card type there's a button for 'BDA Advanced Settings'. There's a setting there to ignore PMT CRC errors during scan - try enabling that and then do a rescan.

Cheers,
Brian

I'm guess its something to do with the 'Morgan Steam Switcher' which is installed on your machine, and inserting itself into the components being used during the scan.

I've tried changing those settings, and it seems a bit more responsive, but still freezes.
I tried stopping the scan after it found the first channel, because normally it hasn't frozen by then, but clicking stop also froze the program.

What is this 'Morgan Steam Switcher'? And how can I disable it?

Its a directshow filter you've installed at some stage. You can either uninstall the app it came with, or try using a directshow filter manager (http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm) to uninstall just the filter.

I've removed the Morgan Stream Switcher filter, and scanned again. It seemed to get alot further before freezing again. Is there any other filters I should try removing?
